250ED seals

Post by Hosk1956 »

I am looking for a bit of help, I have finally got to re assemble my 250ED motor. I had sourced all new engine oil seals locally (postage and the sagging dollar will break my budget, a $US10 seal ends up being $40+ in Australia), but I can't find the RH or clutch side crankshaft oil seal (pt # 711003), worst part is I can't find the old one to get a size of it! Can someone measure a 711003 seal for me, it looks like the pinion gear collar (712717) goes thru this seal, which by measuring will make it 42mm OD x 32mm ID x 8mm thick, but I would like some confirmation.
At the end of the day I may have to bite the bullet and import one, but if I don't have to it is dollars to go elsewhere on my Hody project.

Thanks Rich,
I got the correct seal, phew.
It all came back to me but when I got all the seals locally they didn't have that one in stock, it wasn't listed as an item. I had planned to buy that one in but much time has elapsed (too much time) and I had forgotten to order it, fortunately, my local bloke was able to get one in, he couldn't understand why I couldn't get it the first time.
All good now, bottom end is together, now for the top end, and file the chatter marks out of the clutch cage fingers.
