1974 Super Combat vs 1974 Super Rat Porting

Post by SteveWilcox »

Hi Everyone,
Can anyone tell me why Hodaka did not use the Victory Port layout of the Super Combat in the Super Rat?
I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 1974 Super Combat and a 1974 Super Rat, (both basket cases) and I was surprised when I looked at the Super Rat cylinder.
Was this a money saving issue?
From this forum I have learned that the Super Rat and the Road Toad cylinders are very simlilar...just exhaust port height difference?
Would the Victory Port style porting have resulted in a more powerful Super Rat?
Thanks,
Steveo

I dont know why exactly thier reasoning is for that , but my own logic tells me the rod length would be why the rat uses traditional boost ports , the distance from the top of the intake port to transfer port height is less and no room for it. And no there would not be a power advantage in having the victory port design, more important is the angle of the port . Also the toad cylinder exaust port is 3mm lower that is the only difference,

So for only 3 millimetres I could have a SUPER TOAD?
