Bash plate fitting
I picked up a Hodaka bash plate for my Wombat 94 at Barber's this weekend (thanks Mike!) and need to attach it. The model 94 does not have the welded-in mounting tabs that the newer models do. I'm thinking of some sort of curved clips to fit over the frame tubes or angle brackets that fit between the lower engine mounting bolts and the bash plate. The ideal setup would be the welded-in tabs, but I'm going to wait til I have the engine out to weld them. What would be a good temporary setup for the time being?

Go to Home Depot or Lowe’s. And get some conduit 1/2 straps. Wrap around the frame and bolt through the plate.

Clips like those are what I was thinking about, but was considering blacksmithery of heavier strap. Those conduit straps will work perfectly.

Hi Bill!
I wanted to add a skid/bash plate to my 95CW. I bought one for an RT off ebay and then built a couple of brackets from some angle irons I picked up from the hardware store. I didnt want to impact the original integrity of the frame and have the ability to remove it if necessary.

Very good ideas.
Added: The frame tubes are 22.5mm (0.89") in diameter. They will need 3/4"-7/8" diam clips.

Here's my input on skid plate mounting. I had to snake some extra exhaust through on the front on my example. The two rear bolts through the foot peg plate was really secure but with the extended length of the exhaust and plate, it needed some additional bracing on the front. I think we're all on the same page on this, by showing several attach points.

I'm looking at adding a mid-point support to go with the front-rear mounts. Thin sheet metal can take only so much bouncing-upon. And my bash plate has a slight twist so it's going to need some tweaking.
