Tiddler Rides -

Post by motovate »

Last year a couple of folks here were talking about a Tiddler Ride in Arizona - I think it might have been in April???. As I remember it was running through Oatman, Arizona and I think at least one person on a Hodaka made that ride.

Anyone remember it?

I had the link to it and the sponsor until my old computer's hard drive puked.

Looking for that link and maybe a link for the 2017 ride if there is one.

Thanks - LBM

The date is not set yet, he said it will still be in April. They are trying not to conflict with another event. I'm looking forward to the ride also with Earl, Greg and Diane and a couple other SoCal riders. I will post if I hear the date.

Thanks Kelly. I can't remember who sponsored it - something like KLM performance? I had the link but lost it.

What does the ride entail? Is it on or off Road? When you have dates I'd like to know about them. I'm just a days drive away! ; D Victor

It's on road but any legal bike 250cc or less. I don't remember if there is a "model year" rule but it is mostly if not all vintage and has bikes from 50cc on up. There seems to be tiddler - meaning "fewer CC's"- rides scattered across the US but this one - which I think is basically a yearly event started West of Oatman, Az - I don't remember the name of the start point but it was @ a hotel/casino? that supported it and had inexpensive rooms, a campsite and a secure location for the bikes and was sort of out away from things. The run was 70 - 90 miles as I remember and rode up through Oatman, Az. Stopping somewhere in the middle for Lunch and then circled back to the start. I believe there were chase trucks and maybe 10-20 bikes?? 1 day event. I think you had to join the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club for maybe $50 or so because of the Event Insurance - like joining AMA for Hodaka Days events. I think the ride is to a different place every year.

I was going to try and make it last year in April but couldn't make it in the end. In theory I am on the mailing list since I was on it last year. I had all the info on my lap top that melted the hard drive. Old brain cells can't for some reason remember much more then that. I do remember the info came from a Bike shop that had a great website with lots of 2 stroke tuning info that I also lost and was trying to find again. I think the name was KLM something or very similar to that because that was where the email came from when I ask about the ride. Still looking for that site and still looking to make the ride this year - if I get one of the two bikes I have that fit the requirements up and running. I remember several guys talking about doing it last year and one did the ride on a Hodaka.

OK - I finally found what I was looking for. The "Shop" is actually KlemmRacingEngines.com and they also have a Facebook page, Klemm Vintage Racing Engines. It's called the Route66 Tiddler Tour - if you search that you will get to a page that talks about the 2016 tour and I guess when they get ready for a 2017 tour it will be posted. I was partially right but this explains it all.
