Well, the angiogram went without incident. Was there a little before 9 & was out before 1:30! A little rest this afternoon. Just taking it easy. They made a good sized hole in my right wrist. Dr. Said no throttle twisting for 2 weeks. Victor

Thank you Max! I'm finally proud of how she looks! Personally, I still like the Green Road Toad color better. But the nephew liked the Red & Black colors better & I told him he could have what he wanted! My grandson's Toad will be traditional in color (see attached)!

Going to paint the pipe for it today! And I'm checking out 3, 6 volt batteries locally, at Batteries Plus, for $24.95. That is about 3 for the price of 2 when you factor in the shipping savings! I just need to figure out where I put my 6 volt trickle charger! I may have them start up just one battery for me. Hoping all the wiring/lights work OK. I did trim and determinate EVERY connector on the harness! Victor

OK. The damned pilot jet was clogged again! Exactly what causes the jet to clog up and stop passing fuel?

Also, stock pilot jet for this carb was supposed to be a 30 pilot jet & it had a 50 in it! No wonder it started without the choke on, especially at this elevation! I dropped it down to a 40 which came with the rebuild kit I bought from Dan.

I removed and replaced the tensioning Screw for the points. Having a damned difficult time gapping again. Had to get ready for church and my middle grandson's 15th Birthday Dinner. So I'll finish messing with it tomorrow.

I may still drop the pilot jet to a 30 if I have one in my carb tackle box. More to come. It's time to make sure she's a dependable starter/runner!

Why is it you're never done when you're done? Victor

Victor, I was having the same problem and close examination revealed fibers from a red shop rag was the culprit. Even as I tried to photograph the situation to warn others, charged fibers were jumping to the jet as I moved the subjects around. Here's the shot from the Resonator short tech tip. Carb assembly with a red shop rag is a bad idea.

. . . um, I don't see an in-line fuel filter in the photos. Installing one is highly recommended. The tank has been collecting "stuff" to send to the pilot jet at random (and inopportune) times for decades. An in-line fuel filter will help.

I had a really tough time getting the fuel to flow thru the in line filter on this Toad. It seemed like there wasn't enough flow to move the fuel thru the filter & down into the carb.

I have the same in line filters on the Model 03 & the Ace, but those have more than 5" of fuel line to work with between the petcock & the carb filler tube. Any suggestions on how to set one up between the "T" joining the 2 petcock lines and the line to the carb would be appreciated. Victor

If fuel won't flow through the filter into a dry carb, first check the petcock for actual fuel flow without any hoses attached, then verify your float valve and inlet passages on the carb, as well as vent passages and overflows. Sounds like either very little fuel, or an air lock.

The filters with openings at 90 degrees to each other work nicely for some applications.

I found some 90* filters on eBay. 4 for $9.95. Placed an order and will try one when they get here! Good idea! Victor

Sorry I'm a bit late with these photos. Small and short inline filters can be found with a bit of searching.
