Brian! Get a hold of Lee Fabry! He has restored Challengers/Sprites and will be a good resource for you for finding the Unobtainium items! :ugeek: Victor

The project is languishing in my basement. I have about 80% of the parts and some spare stuff, but other projects have more priority.

Hi Brian Z
I recently picked up a Hodaka Sprite Avenger 125 and I am doing a complete restoration.
I am having some trouble with the front forks.......... The triple clamps are cracked..... Will take a bit to sort that out.
It runs good! I have had a special Powerdynamo trials ignition put together for it by Vape.
I am also in Ontario (close to London).
Cheers, Joe

Hi Joe,

Nice to see another one these bikes in Ontario, especially one that runs!

Mine is still in boxes in the basement. I have one good frame and 2 bent ones. I looked to see if I have an extra set of triple clamps, but no luck.

Regards,

Brian

I think Gregg Floren bought a Sprite Avenger from a seller on Vancouver Island (British Columbia) five or six years ago. I wonder how that project is progressing.

That's true. I bought it from former Canadian National Trials Champion, Steve Fracy.

I asked Lee Fabry to restore it. He finished it and brought it to Hodaka Days in 2018 where it won the class for best "Hodaka Powered - (other brands)".

Lee did an article in the June 2018 Resonator on it with some nice before and after pictures.

I have to admit, it's one of my "Garage Queens" . Not taking any chances with that one.

Gregg

I remember researching these when Alan Donovan bought one. They came powered with a 125 EH Wombat replacement motor.

As I recall something like 200 of them were ordered by a Western Canadian Power company with the idea that they could run them up & down power line Right Of Ways easier & service the power lines. Then evidently the order was canceled at some point after the first 200 were built. At least that’s what can recall.

Alan sold the roller to a guy who lives just north of him in Mapleridge, BC. Evidently the guy had one which was complete and was looking to build another. Alan decided to keep the EH motor and rebuild it.

He may have sold the rebuilt motor for a pretty good price to the guy who bought the roller, confirming to the guy it was the motor which came out of the roller he bought. I think there was a middle man between Alan and the guy who ended up with the roller. :ugeek: Victor
