HD 2020/virus
Will there be any adverse effect from the virus toward this event?? Don’t want to be a worrier...
Re: HD 2020/virus
I’m told it’s supposed to level off as the heat of Summer approaches, but could ramp back up in the Fall. Victor

On a much larger scale the Supercross events in Indianapolis this weekend and in Detroit and Seattle later have all been canceled as well as the AHRMA event in three weeks at Budds Creek in Maryland. All were cancelled because of Governor's mandates in each of the states involved.

Thrown,
No, ALL of the expected effects of the "Hodaka Days 2020 Virus" are POSITIVE (according to an un-scientific survey of no fewer than one Hodaka Club member)! Positive effects of being infected by the "Hodaka Days 2020 Virus" include (but may not be limited to) 1) Educational opportunities regarding Hodaka Motorcycles and their owners 2) getting to see (in person) examples of Hodaka motorcycles ranging from the crusty (both running and non-running varieties) to the sublime, best examples of original and fully restored Hodakas in the world and 3) FUN - getting to ride your favorite Hodaka in and around the center of the Hodaka universe - road, trail and track options available!
As for OTHER nasty viruses going around . . . we'll have to see how things develop over the next few weeks. At this time I'm thinking (and this is purely personal opinion at this point) that following CDC recommendations for personal health as regards COVID-19 will suffice to let the event proceed. Our attendance at specific functions is usually under the sort of numbers which have been banned due to close personal contact amongst large groups. We'll keep an eye on things and do updates as appropriate.

Re: HD 2020/virus
Lets not forgo discussing one of the major features of the Hodaka Days 2020 viral syndrome. The incredible transmissibility and replication velocity is second to none. Just a simple exposure to how much fun a Hodaka is results in immediate infection. Good news coming - There is a good, safe, and effective treatment. Dirt.
Re: HD 2020/virus
Captain! This being my first adventure to Athena for Hodaka Days, I have a question about the Bad Rock ride.
What arrangements are there for someone who has a break down with their bike out on the trail somewhere and can’t restart the bike and ride back in? Just curious because I will be bringing my 3 grandsons & their dad. Is there some kind of check points along the route to account for bikes/riders who are missing? And will there be some kind of pick up service to get a non-running bike back, or if a rider is injured, to get his bike back to town? Thx! Victor

Re: HD 2020/virus
There is indeed a sweep crew and retrieval crew to handle machines and riders who can't complete the ride.

It is a ride not a race. Many offers to help. -----------Clarence
Re: HD 2020/virus
Good to know. I was just wondering! Glad to know. I don’t anticipate needing help, but I will carry, at a minimum, extra spark plugs and a spark plug socket/ratchet!
And, how long is the Bad Rock ride? I’m assuming anyone can make the trip on a single tank of fuel? Victor

Re: HD 2020/virus
The Bad Rock Trail Ride course is between 35 and 40 miles in length - takes somewhere near a gallon of fuel on my piston-port, lightly(?) modified Combat Wombat engine.
