Picking up a cpl Hodaka bikes. Looking for value to sell

Post by Johnboy1980 »

Hello brand new here. I'm picking up a couple Hodaka bikes. I've not heard of these before but am learning alot. Looking for value and even possible interested people to buy them from me? One is a 71 ace 100cc. Complete bike but not sure if it turns over? The other is a 75 dirt squirt maybe 100cc also. I think this one runs and drives. I was told all original parts and paint on them even. Any help wld be great thanks!!

I would think the dirt squirt would be worth about $250 and the ace maybe $150. I bought my squirt a few years ago for $700 and it was in very nice condition with a clear title and good running engine. Of course if you are patient then there are always suckers out there who will overpay !!!

I'd double both those estimates. Probably do better than that at HD

I'm with you, Dan. Maybe even a bit more. That painted tank DS looks like a nice survivor. I'd bet a grand for it is not out of the question - certainly so if it is indeed a runner. The Ace looks like a mild racer build. MX bars, Webco pegs, high flow air cleaner. Fork brace. High fender mount. It is missing all the street parts but those are fairly easy to come by. These days I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for $400-500. Nice find!!

Maybe I am underestimating the value on these things. My survivor, beautiful Dirt Squirt must be worth a lot then. I figured it was worth maybe a grand or so, but if you guys think these two are that valuable, maybe mine is worth a couple grand. Not trying to hijack the thread, just trying to put some perspective on the subject.

You would do waaaayeee better than a grand for that sweet DS, Go. A good friend of mine just sold a toaster tank DS not nearly as nice as yours for $1800 and the guy who bought it drove 600 miles to pick it up. Good survivor painted tank Dirt Squirts are quite rare. I have been looking for one I could afford for a few years now with no luck.

Nice to know Matt. I guess my estimates for the original poster's bikes were quite a bit off. Good thing I didn't decide to sell mine !!!!!

For sure, Go. Keep that baby. It is a very cool bike, fun as heck, and you'd have to pony up some serious bread to score another. They are out there but are either roached out or expensive.

Herc, your bike would do easily over $3000, maybe close to $4000. Maybe more to the right person.

The prices must very by area, Montana must be the place to buy, because they are much cheaper here. --------------Clarence

I agree with Clarence. I have a nice Montana Ace 100 with title that runs great (rode it in HD17 parade with my dog aboard) that I'd sell and even deliver to Hodaka Days.

Location price is equivalent to your local market. Less buyers means lower price. A lot of people don't factor in transport when buying something that's far away, and that can be a deal breaker.

There's a few of us here in the NE, guys in Ohio, Pa, NY and the surrounding states. Even southern Canada . And for you guys that will be at Hodaka Days, if you want either or both of these bikes, I've got room to haul out if you have the deal done.

If any one wants a contribution towards getting a bike to Hodaka days to sell I might have a proposition for them.
looking for a bike to ride in Badrock ride. Don think I will be buying a bike to ride then shipping it back to OZ .
Would be interested in "hiring" a bike if anyones interested. My preference would be a 03 wombat or a 250 but would be happy riding anything that starts with a H and ends with an A.

Careful, Honda fits that mold. For the 50th I picked up a bike in Mich and delivered it to it's new owner from down under. He got to use it for the 50th celebration and then shipped it home as a happy new owner. I hope he's enjoying it to it's fullest. I could do the same this year if needed.

Was thinking someone would pick that up! What sort of money would you need to haul that dirt Squirt to Hodaka days?
