Re: Super Rat with reed jetting

I think it's all positive Max. ;) The mind boggling part of it all to me is that this part of the discussion only pertains to the carburetor part of the flow. Velocity and flow become exponentially more complex when applied to the rest of its journey through the reeds, crank, ports, combustion chamb...

Re: Super Rat with reed jetting

What a great discussion. Here is what I think I have learned. Velocity, volume and flow. All important, all necessary for a carburetor to work but for different reasons. The flow of a given volume of air over time through a venturi causes an increase in velocity which results in a reduction in air p...

Re: Gears Not Engaging!!!

Victor, Sorry to ask the same question twice but the way that you worded it I was hoping that maybe it was something that simple. I guess it didn't hurt to ask. We all have done silly things when we are in a hurry. I once left a rag in the air boot between the filter and the carb to keep dirt from g...

Re: Gears Not Engaging!!!

Yesterday you said this, "Greg. I was always starting it with the lever in the down position. This was my biggest indicator that it was too rich. If it starts not choked when cold and dies when it warms up, that to me says that the carb is set too rich for my elevation." Unless I am misrea...

Re: Gears Not Engaging!!!

Victor,
Looking at your carb, if the choke lever is down the choke is on (not really a choke but the enrichening circuit). Again down is ON, up is OFF.

Re: Ace 100 Clutch problems

At this point I think we are all overthinking this. The bike does not run yet so what the owner is experiencing is clutch drag when trying to push the bike in gear with the engine not running. This is normal with a wet clutch especially with the clutch on the end of the crankshaft. I suspect everyth...

Aww come on Paul. I know we have talked about it for years, but if we actually go to the Dinosaur Barbeque what will be left for us to look forward to?

Re: No spark

Did you shut the Wombat off before it lost spark? The first thing to check (after trying a new plug) is the kill switch. I would unplug that to eliminate it as the culprit.

Re: vermont registration

The new registration form does indeed have a space for your VT drivers license #. Unfortunately I don't know if this is a required field. Let us know how you make out. Up until now it has been a very easy experience for individuals from out of state to register their bikes in Vermont. In the past if...

Re: 73 Wombat-94a Tire recommendation?

The carcass of the Duro 4.10-18 is very similar in size to a 3.50-18. The Cheng Shinn 755 4.10-18 fits well too and are still available. I have used both with good results and currently have the 755 on my Road Toad MXer. Several riders that I respect claim the Duro is a better choice though.

Re: Tire choice

Cheng Shin and Duro still both make 4.10-18 knobbies which are very close in carcass size to the 3.50-18 tires. I have run them on my Road Toad with no clearance issues and they are much easier for the motor to turn than a 100/100-18.

Nice video Laurie, very entertaining! Still have feet of snow and it was 10 below zero here in Vermont this morning. It will be quite a while before we can even think of riding here. :( It was fun riding on video with you though.

Re: Trials Bike Question

I sell a lot of trials tires and agree that the radials are the way to go. The serious trials guys use the Michelins, a lot of the serious offroad guys are using the Dunlop 804 but they break the knobs off very quickly with modern 450's, some are trying the Pirelli DOT approved MT43 on the trail. Th...
