Re: 93 super rat carb

I thought that too until I relocated the Main Jet under the Needle Jet. My carb in my 93A Has been that way for 40+ years with no trouble. My Jetting specs are as follows: Pilot #30. Throttle Valve(Slide) #2.0 Needle Jet #N8. Jet Needle # 4D3 ( In The Center Position). Main Jet #180. If any one want...

Re: Clutch Pack - What is this off of?

And I think this is the very first time the Correct screws for the clutches has been brought up. Another thing about the early Model 92 Clutch is that the steel plates were thicker and the fibers were thinner than the later ones. The Barnett Clutch Kit was that way. Massive Thick Steel Plates that i...

Re: Ace 90 goes on strike

What ever happened to the good old days when everything had a Cross Bone and Scull logo ! Berryman Parts dip did and would clean a filthy Carb spotless in no time flat. Berrymans Carb Spray worked as a paint stripper. No more. Just too toxic I guess. Sure do miss the old chemicals. Joe.

Re: Clutch Pack - What is this off of?

In the second Photo the top parts are 1967 to 1969 Model 92. The lower Hub is Part #944012. The 934008 ISO Clutch part came out in the Model 93 Super Rats first . Be CAREFUL! They made one 934008 for the 1969 1970 Super Rats (no ISO) on the Cover. That one uses flat head screws. The 934008 ISO uses ...

Re: Carb Wize?

About a year ago I was sorting my main jets by size. Then , I found one stamped 190. I knew right away something was wrong because I had several 190 main jets. It turned out to be a 90 main jet that was stamped 190. CLEARLY stamped 190. First time I ever saw that. Joe.

Re: Carb Wize?

Your point is well taken. That`s why a VM20 carb has a #90 or #95 main. The VM 28 on the Combat Wombat came with a #190 Main jet . Four mm larger Venturi than the VM24 Carb installed on the Model 93s and the VM 24 came with a # 220 Main Jet? Hodaka got it wrong . Sorry. Hodaka did get a few things w...

Re: Carb Wize?

Actually, The Main Jet is #220 from the Factory. The Yamaha AT1 125 used the same VM 24 carb and was Jetted as follows: Pilot: #30 Slide: 2.0 Needle: 4D3 Needle Jet: N8 Main Jet:#150. The main difference between the Mikuni VM 24 installed on the Yamaha AT1 is the fuel inlet Nipple is 5/16 and the Ho...

Re: Carb Wize?

Fuel, air and Spark. Pull the carb. Take out the Needle and Seat assembly and blow the passage out with carb spray. You can run a wire through it too. Better to pull the nipple out first. That`s where I had trouble more than once and it drove me nuttier. Your Jetting is PERFECT!!! Joe.

Oil. Anyhow, I can tell you what the Service life of the Iron Ring was in the Model 93 Super Rats. 24 Hours Running time and that was generous! Joe.

Re: synthetic oil

When it comes to oil, insults get thrown back and forth. You use what? 15w40 Valvoline Diesel oil. I changed the oil out to a Kendall 5w30 Full Synthetic and I noticed that virtually no foam is created as compared to the other oils I have used. The whining of the Primary Gears are also far less in m...

Re: 93 super rat carb

That`s one reason I install the Main Jet under the Needle Jet. Once your bike is jetted, it`s jetted. What you can do is screw what they call the Needle Jet Bolt into the Banjo Bolt or as I call it the main jet holder so it doesn`t get lost. Anyhow, that`s how I do it. Joe.

The biggest bummer is when you slide the Cylinder up and all the sand and grit in between the Cylinder and the 4 studs drops inside the Engine. Joe.

Re: 93 super rat carb

You can see the Jetting specs in the HPI Library. The Super Rat carb has a 1/4 inch inlet nipple and 24 millimeter Venturi. The Yamaha AT1 and CT1 used the identical carb BUT the fuel inlet is 5/16 inch. Some AT1 CTI carbs were 26mm. You can install the main jet as shown in your photo. I do. Once you...

Beware The Raven!

The other day I was doing some yard work. I had my Super Rat parked under the Pine Tree. The road leading to my place is dirt. A Raven landed on the road and was hopping around throwing a FIT! A BIG Raven! About as big as a large Cat with wings! It took off and then I figured out what that goofy bir...

Re: No spark!!!

Before you put the Flywheel on, rotate the Crank so that the key is facing down. That way the lobe on the Flywheel is at the lowest point. The only way that rubbing block broke off is that the Points were defective or the lobe was on the high side and broke it when you put the Flywheel on. The edge ...

Re: Hodaka ACE90 ACE100 Condenser

I just finished assembling 7 Stator Plates: 3 for Model 93, 4 for Model 92. That`s why I Posted some Parts Numbers. The only way to find out if the Condensers are up to par is to try them. OEM Honda And Kawasaki Condensers are EVERY bit as good as the ones installed by Hodaka. Sorta like Wiseco Pist...

Re: Hodaka ACE90 ACE100 Condenser

It all comes down to what you are willing to pay. You can get the exact condenser Hodaka used with the Grey Plastic for $42.99 on EBAY or 12.95 for the Honda #30250-001-024 sealed with Black Rubber. Personally , I like how Honda mounted the Condenser on the MT250 Elsinore: on the Coil. Guys in this ...
