Re: Motorcycle Brands in the 1960's and 1970's

Nice List !!! I have the 1972 Motorcycle Buyers Guide and it seems that countless Companies were manufacturing Mini Bikes. I will list a few soon BUT how did you Miss STEENS !!! Anyhow, let me add a few more not on your list. Steens, Power Dyne, Attex, K&P, Heathkit, Viking. Let`s have some fun ...

Re: Throttle differences???

The only way to find out why anything is done is for the person or persons that made the decision to tell us why. Why. Why were the best foot pegs ever made installed on the 1972 Wombat BUT the 1972 Super Rat came with the crummy rubber ones? Why was the Wombat throttle tube short like the early thr...

Re: 73 Dirt Squirt air filter

I stand corrected! I`ll start selling my crates packed full of Super Rat parts on the Hodaka Forum. Thanks for letting me know that the Forum is on Terry`s Web Page as filler. Thanks!!! Joe Ormonde.

Re: 73 Dirt Squirt air filter

Try or not, the Chat Group is Part of Terry`s Website. To me it`s no different than sitting in a Coffee Shop and sending customers to another Coffee Shop because it belonged to your Buddy. That`s the kind of stuff that would get someone thrown out FOREVER. Think about it! What would you do? I know w...

A Flange adapter on a Model 93 manifold may be the easiest way to go. Power is lost and found by trying new and at times strange things. Joe.

Terry at Hodaka Parts Inc. does too! If anyone wants to refer someone else to buy from, Private Email them. Using this Forum to steer away business from Terry Larsen is rather Sh@##y. Joe.

Re: Hodaka ID help

Two locations for the Upper Shock Bolt indicates a Dirt Squirt? This is what a Hodaka Fan with several different Models would buy for more parts. WAY too much to do to get it up and running. Still, there is some value to a Hodaka collector. Joe.

Re: 76 thunderdog seized engine

Too bad a RM 100 Piston won`t work in a ACE 100. I can pick those things up for $20.00.I know the Suzuki 250 piston works in the Thunder Chicken. Fits a 1972 CZ 250 too. Joe.

Re: 76 thunderdog seized engine

Too bad they don`t have an ACE 100 crossover piston from something else! That 12x42mm pin seems to be exclusive to Hodaka. I know that a Suzuki 250 Piston was used for a WAY cheaper alternative for a CZ 250 also. Joe.

Re: Time for rings?

Concerning the Model 93 Piston ring, do you guys and gals know what the Service life was? 24 Hours running time! That`s all. That was for the plain Iron ring. I replaced 3 Rings by the time my Super Rat was only 2 months old. Then the Shop in Norco CA handed me a Poppy Brand ring. It lasted for a wh...

Re: Time for rings?

All the parts and Bore job should be well under $300.00 Bucks. Otherwise you`re getting robbed. The only problem is finding Ring#2. I seriously doubt that the Cylinder needs a Bore. Take it to a Machine shop and they can tell you. Way too many cylinders get Bored when they don`t need to be. OK. Let ...

The top ring is the same as the Super Rat. Ring #2 is hard to find. A Model 93 or 98 Reed Valve Piston will work just fine. Call Terry at HPI and he can supply you with what you need. Joe.

To clarify: Some 1970 Super Rats had a Bushing in the Left Side Center Case: 1971 and 1972 Super Rats had a Bushing. Joe.

Re: Super rat left case half needed

Part way through 1970 the Model 93 changed to a Bushing. Any ACE100 Case will work. As we all know, they made a small and large flange( Where the Base Gasket seals). In 1971 they Cast both styles at the same time. Any 1967 to 1971 Small Flange will work: It`s the same Case. Plentiful on EBAY. Fairly...

Carbs can drive a guy nuttier! I have 3 VM20 carbs that I went through. I have a 1970 100B that runs PERFECT. So, while it`s running tip top I tested the 3 carbs on that Bike. Same deal with My 93 Super Rat Carbs. I test those on my Super Rat. I also have several Stator Plate Assemblies that have be...

Re: Can anyone identify this model? Year?

Photos sure do help! The frame has 2 tiny holes where the Serial Numbers should be. Looks like a Tag was there. The seat bracket looks like it`s for the ACE90. Possibly this Bike was built from more than one. The Forks look to be 69 70. The Engine has the 1 down 4 up Shift Cover. That`s nice. The Cy...

Re: Trials; 90 vs 100

I can tell you that the number One thing you can do is to RAISE THE COMPRESSION. You can bore the ACE 90 Cylinder +.040 and install a Model 93 Super Rat head and gain more Power than messing with the Cylinder. The best way to find out is to keep trying different things. That`s where I would start: M...

The only problem with Champion is they sometimes show several different Spark Plugs for the cross reference to the NGK. Case in point is Champion L81 crosses over to a B8HS and B7HS. Champion L86 crosses over to a B6HS BUT also Crosses over to a NGK B7HC. Just a HARD Spark Plug to figure out but I l...

Re: Ace 92B STD Piston Rings

I Emailed the EBAY seller in Greece . He can`t sell to anyone outside of Europe right now so he ran up the shipping costs so high that no one will buy from him. So, later on when the Greek Government says he can sell to outside Europe, the Piston Rings will be cheap again. A strange way to do things...

Take your piston to a Chain Saw or small engine repair shop. I posted about that dude in Greece. I bought a 50.50 mm piston ring in 2019 and it was $9.60 Shipped. WHY shipping is now over 100 bucks makes no sense! Perhaps a misprint or his mind got fried. Joe Ormonde.
