Re: New mirrors for the Ace!

Kinda like showing up to your girlfriend's parent's house for Thanksgiving dinner with a bucket of KFC and half a 40? Those manners?

Re: Fresh top end break in technique question

Also, does anyone run a different gas:oil ratio or use different gear case oil? Do you flush the gear case after a rebuild. Sorry if this is too much stuff to ask.

Re: Fresh top end break in technique question

Thank you for your replies. The manuals describe pulling the piston and dressing any shiny (I assume indicating high) sections with ultrafine grit W/D sandpaper. Does anyone perform this maneuver? Thanks again!

Re: Fresh top end break in technique question

Thanks for your reply, Squid. Here's my ignorance shining through. I have heard of the heat cycling technique. What exactly does that accomplish?

Fresh top end break in technique question

Hi friends, I was wondering how everyone proceeds with breaking in a new motor or top end. I follow Hodaka Dave's directions - namely running at least a full tank of gas through at varying engine speeds short of wide open on standard 32:1 (91 octane non-oxygenated pump gas with Yamalube R2). After t...

Re: Calendar

Rats. I too should've sent something. I don't have anything close to a concourse resto but I do have a stable of Hodies that (thanks to Paul and Hodaka Dave) I routinely beat the crap out of. If you want a mud encrusted Combat Wombat or Rat and similarly adorned rider, then I'm your man.

Re: Need alittle help guys

There should be an "M" at the beginning of the engine number. That would make the bike a 1971 Model 93A 100CC Super Rat. (my first race bike). Very cool. There is a nice and comprehensive serial number chart under the FAQ tab on the Srtictly Hodaka home page.

Re: 71 Super Rat Road Kit?

Hi River, If you go to the library on hodaka-parts and check the dealer (Dealee) binder, the first Resonator edition that comes up describes the conversion kit. It clearly mentions the magneto fly wheel and the advantage the heavier fly wheel has on mellowing the power of the race motors for enduro ...

Re: 71 Super Rat Road Kit?

In a special accessory edition of the Resonator, there is listed a trail lighting kit designed for the "Supers" (Super Rat and Super Combat). It's part number is 201615. From the description, this kit introduces a "flywheel effect" because of the necessary magneto-type flywheel w...

Re: New to Hodakas!!!

Hey Am103. I live in Cedar Falls and have excellent examples of both of the bikes you are working on. I race the Combat Wombat and the Ace 100 is my daily rider. Neither one is a 100 point resto but the CW is an excellent race resto and the Ace is an equally excellent rider resto. Both were rehabili...
