Cylinder head

Greetings all

I have a cylinder head with the # 952501 embossed above "Made in Japan". Is this for a model 95 CW?

Thanks

Re: Lost Key!

You can get a replacement key from Paul that will work in any Hodaka ignition switch.

Re: 03 engine mods

Thanks for the info.

The bottom end that I have is serial #Q15041, so I will try to find a later trans. if possible.

I was wondering about the clutch as well. I'm assuming that the parts are interchangeable so that a needed upgrade would not be to hard to install.

Re: Brooks is broken

Bob My hat is off to you for actually picking up your bike and attempting to ride it out of the woods.....can hardly imagine the amount of pain you experienced. Any experienced off-road biker will have plenty of similar stories to tell, but very few will have the video proof. I guess you could consi...

Re: 03 engine mods

Thanks Rich My shopping list is as follows: 1- 03 cylinder @ head 2- SC rod @ piston 3- 32mm carb @ rubber manifold 4- Cylinder porting (do you have an estimate for this work?) You mentioned the need for an extra clutch plate and different clutch cage. Would that be the cage from the SC as well ? Ha...

Re: 03 engine mods

Thanks for the input and I surely wouldn't want to anger the "Hodaka spirits" any more than I already have. My aim is to build a non, or barely street legal cross country bike based on the 03 with some power upgrades. I like having the primary kick, but if the SC top end would be too much ...

03 engine mods

I'm looking for suggestions that anyone might have about modifying an 03 engine to Super Combat specs. I'm just wanting to know if this would be something that would work with interchangeable parts ( head, cylinder.piston etc.) or requiring modification of the stock parts.

Re: Leading axle forks

Thanks The forks that I am referring to are of the telescopic kind with the axle mounted on the front of the lowers (like Maico) instead of in the center as Hodaka models are designed. Sorry for the confusion with my original description. I have not had the chance to ride with "Leading Link&quo...

Leading axle forks

I was just wondering how the handling characteristics would change if I were to install a set of leading axle forks on my model 98. I'm looking at forks from a 1985 Suzuki DR 100 - 30mm tubes- and am curious if anyone has tried this setup. Maybe it works or maybe it is just a bad idea. Any thoughts/...

Ace 100 shift cover

Can anyone tell me where to install the thrust washer on the shift shaft? I can't tell from the parts diagram and I have seen them on the outside under the snap ring and in side on either side of the ratchet. Does it matter where it goes ?

Thanks

Re: 175/250 clutch

I have a clutch for a 250 SL, and it has a small amount of play as well. About 1/32".
It feels like there are rubber dampers inside with no metal to metal contact.
The parts list does not show this part disassembled, so I'm assuming it is a cush drive.

Re: Rear shock spring on super rat

You didn't mention if you have the model 93 or 98 Rat.
If you have the chrome /steel body shocks: sorry, they can not be taken apart.
The aluminum body shocks from the 98 have a slot in the retention ring that slides out to remove the spring and service the shock.

Cable stop for left side front brake

Greetings all I have a set of 34mm forks from an 03, and I would like to mount the front brake on the left side. I'm looking for suggestions on where would the best place be to install a cable stop, so that the cable can be run in front of the fork tube. I'm also interested in hearing any thoughts a...

Re: Hodaka paint

I matched the paint that was under a Torco sticker on the chain guard on an Ace 100 B+(I was the original owner and had placed that sticker early in the life of that bike), and used that color to paint the tank on my 250SL. The tank decal is one from SH, and the red in the decal is slightly darker t...

Re: Shifter Spring Repacement

Dale

Just a few quick questions.
Can the control shaft be straightened if it has a wobble, or should it be replaced along with the new shift kit?
Will this procedure for changing the springs work with the 250 engines as well?

Thanks

Great tip!

It's simple---effective---AND inexpensive. Much better than the hammer and screwdriver method that I have seen some people use.

Thanks for sharing.

I just completed two oil changes and came up with a clean drain pan. Also----The transmission is no longer making those odd noises.
I would judge this as a success and possible destruction avoided. Yeah!!!!!

Re: 02 transmission

Bruce Thanks for your input. Maybe it would be a good idea just to replace the balls whenever anyone does an engine rebuild. $7 is a cheap price to pay for these important parts. I replaced the springs and installed a new control shaft o-ring prior to the first start up of this engine. Ran it for no...

Re: 02 transmission

I installed a new 2nd gear( I believe that I'm lucky that Paul had one in stock) and all new balls($.35 each). About four of the old balls had small dings---makes sense to me that they were getting beat up by the indents in the old gear. I never thought about what the balls are doing while the engin...

02 transmission

Greetings fellow Hodaka enthusiasts I just completed an 02 project, and upon the first start up, I noticed a strange sound(rumbling /knocking not grinding) coming from the engine that went away when I put it into gear. On careful examination of the trans. gears, I noticed that the second gear had so...

You could contact "Circle F Exhaust". They built the down pipe that I have on my latest MX project. Excellent fit and top notch welds. I also had a "Bassani down pipe on my Ace that worked really well, but I doubt that they are available unless you can find a used one. Hope that helps...
