Re: Wombat Dyno
How will the piston last longer? The Yamaha piston? And how will the engine remove heat more efficiently? Thanks, Dave Dave...I think what Kel's is talking about is the two ring piston. Kel's and Tim both say that a two ring piston will work better for what I intend to use the bike for (long road r...

Re: Wombat Dyno
Back home from my trip on my road bike to Nevada, California, Oregon, Idaho and back to Utah. I stopped at hodaka days for the first three days of rides and the wombat performed just great. The bike could use a bit more over rev but the torque was a blast on the trail's of the bad rock ride. Ed and ...

Re: Wombat Dyno
Like Ed said "it IS a development project" I had a dyno time scheduled for 11.30AM and I got the bike put togeather at 9.30AM, then rode it 35 miles to Tim's to put it on the dyno. So this is about as new and untested as a bike can be. We know the dyno sheet is not the best looking and the...

The piston we used was for a 1978 - 1981 DT125.....Oh and the hodaka cylinder started out as a model 03 aluminum cylinder.

Re: Wombat Dyno
I just got back from a 120 mile ride on the wombat and all I can say is WOW! this thing is a blast to ride. The problem that I have had in the past is with the tall gearing (16F 47R) when you shift you would have to rev it to the moon just to pull the next gear and if your on a hill or have a head w...

Wombat Dyno
dynorunShare-5 [109765].png I was able to get the wombat on the dyno yesterday. Okay first off this thing was designed for torque not H.P. and second we changed the porting after the pipe was made, so now we need to change the pipe again to match the porting. The new motor is in red and last years ...

Re: Hole in piston
look up part number 73 that's your stinger......see if it is plugged up with carbon. I think Danny has found out the stock Combat stinger or spark arrester was on the small side so the 250 could be also.

Re: Hole in piston
I know that the hole in the stinger on the 250 is very small and it makes me wounder if this could be part of the problem. Kels has talked about this before and this is was Bell has to say about it from his 2 stroke tuners book. (good find on the air leak) TABLE 4.6 indicates the stinger dimensions ...

This is the pipe that TTR is making for my wombat. Hope to have it on the dyno in two or three weeks.

Powermist oil
I was talking to Rick at powermist about 2 stroke oil and he was telling me that they designed the yamalube 2r oil for yamaha back in the day and sold the formula to yamaha. From what I can tell citgo made the oil for yamaha up to a couple years ago and now someone other than citgo is making it now....

Re: oil migration
So like I was saying the gas and oil separate from each other.......Oh I see we have moved on. I think one of the problems here is there are some members that have to comment on every post. If you don't agree you don't have to reply to it! some are 160 to what ever the other person has to say. Take ...

Re: oil migration
One other thing, when Tim did the calculation on the circle F pipe that I was using had a peak torque of about 8500 RPM and the new pipe will have a peak torque of about 7000 -7200 RPM. I think the old pipe in the center was about 75mm and the new one is about 105mm.

Re: oil migration
I'm having a new pipe made for my wombat at TTR performance dyno. So I ask Tim how big a stinger did his program call for and I think he said 19mm. I don't think there is 19mm in that silencer that Danny showed photos of . So could it be to restrictive? Could it be hurting performance? could there b...

Re: oil migration
One more cool bike that I'm working on is a 1984 Heron RM500 center port (RM500 engine in a 84 RM250 frame). From what I understand there was only 6 of these ever made in the UK by Heron suzuki the suzuki importer. For a number of years I have wonted to build one and with the help of three of four f...

Re: oil migration
Max...I really liked my maicos and have raced and rebuilt a lot of them. I would make all the aluminum parts on them in my garage by hand, tank, side plates, rear brake peddle, airbox, foot peg mounts. I also came up with a part that stiffened up the clutch and made them work like a clutch should.

019.JPG The reason I had for posting about oil migration in the first place was to try and pass on info that I have came a cross trying to get my wombat to live running at a high RPM for long periods of time. Like a lot of you I have been riding and racing from a very young age witch was about nine...

Re: oil migration
What got me interested in all this gas oil mix and what kind of oil will work best in a air cooled engine was this goal that I have of riding a iron butt (1000 in 24 hours) on a 72 wombat. Last year was nothing but problems with the bike, running 927 maxima with the older dykes ring the ring would s...

Re: oil migration
I think if you look at the gravity of gasoline and oil it will show you how the two would separate as it inters the crank case. This is just a guess but I would say the gravity of gasoline is around 73-76 and the gravity on the oil would be around 35-40. So the gasoline weight is less than the oil. ...

Re: No first gear
This transmission was isotropic polished when I put it in 8000 miles ago.....but I put a new combat wombat 5th gear in that was not polished. So I would think it came from it or a peace that was hidden inside the control shaft that finale came out....I just don't know where it came from. One thing I...
