Re: Hate to be a downer
Victor, for sure they can see you on that bike!! I am a believer in bright colors while riding. You know, you have to be aware of people pulling out in front of you, but there are just as many people texting on their phones out there. As if we need another thing to concern ourselves about. I ride to...

Re: Hate to be a downer
Victor, I agree with what you saying. I can remember when I first started riding on the street. I rode back and forth to high school . Back then, I took all of my blinkers off, removed one of my mirrors, I wanted to look cool. Now when I ride, I look like neon sign with all my bright colors. Also, y...

Re: Hate to be a downer
Maxie, I cannot disagree with any thing you have said. I have been in four, what I would call major wrecks (where bones were broken). Three of them in the dirt (one on my Super Rat) and one on the street involving an animal. I have had many broken bones, plates, screws, three back surgeries and a tot...

Re: Hate to be a downer
Matt, you are right on all counts, I think it is just me feeling my own mortality now that I am getting older. I have seen motorcycle wrecks. I have been in motorcycle wrecks. It just that living in the Daytona area, everybody rides, so you hear about a lot of motorcycle fatalities. It gets exhausti...

Re: Hate to be a downer
Thrownchain, I am so sorry about your son. My brother was age 23 when we lost him in a car wreck. I know how devestating it is on those left behind. A son would be even worse than a brother. I think it is good that you honor him by still riding. I pray you find peace.

Hate to be a downer
Hey yall, I know this is not Hodaka related, but I am having a hard time dealing with something lately. Wednesday afternoon, I was on my way home from work on my motorcycle and I saw the immediate aftermath of a motorcycle wreck. I knew it did not look good. Later that evening I checked the internet...

Re: Powder coating
I had my 1974 Super Rat powder coated maybe 3 years ago and it cost me $330, that included sandblasting. It included the frame, swing arm, the stand for my Super Rat and also a few of the associated frame parts. Linc

Beautiful example of a SL250!! Great job!! I have always loved these bikes. I passed on buying a Thunderdog at a bike show last weekend. After seeing yours, I am glad I did. I will wait until I find the right SL250. Linc

Re: tired tires
"All Moto Tire" has vintage tires from "Vee Rubber" that match up perfect for Hodaka Super Rat 98 and Road Toad 99. I bought a set from them for my Super Rat (3.50x18 & 3.00X21). They fit perfect and they use the"old school" tire sizes. They are out of Seatlle, but ...

Be Safe!!!!!!!
I just wanted to remind everyone to keep their head in the game when riding your motorcycles. Especially those of us who are daily riders. There have been three motorcycle deaths in my little town in the last three days. I guess everyone has there mind on Christmas and other things this time of year...

Re: Hodakas and Hurricanes
Yes, it does seem that alot of people want to move here (Florida), but the weather here is HOT and very humid and it seems to be getting worse each year. There are no seasons here, just hot and humid year round that's it. Also, you have the constant threat of hurricanes each season and it just gets ...

Re: Hodakas and Hurricanes
The bike is fine, not a scratch. No water damage either, but I'll tell you, I am sick of Florida and it's Hurricanes. 50 years of this is enough, I can't wait until I can retire and move north. Just venting a little....Linc

Re: Hodakas and Hurricanes
Victor, we had no house damage, just powerlines down and several big trees. It took two solid days of chainsawing to get it cleaned up. Thanks for asking, Linc

Re: Hodakas and Hurricanes
Hey All, I hope all you Florida Hodaka enthusiast are ok after Irma. I just got power and cable/internet over the weekend. Six days of listening to a generator run will drive you nuts. Keep all of your Hodakas in their safe place because Hurricane Maria is coming our way. Talk to you all soon, Linc

Hodakas and Hurricanes
Good news and bad news! The good news is that I finally talked my wife into letting me bring my prized Super Rat in to the house, the bad news is, that it is only because we are hunkering down from Hurricane Irma. Wish us luck. We will probably be losing power shortly. Linc

Re: Super Rat Resto
ok...Now I'm confused. I wonder why some would be delivered with "Hodaka" decals already on the tank and others would not. Maybe they had the decals on bikes built earlier in 74 and by the time mine was built (August 74) they had stopped.

Re: Super Rat Resto
Rich, yes, that makes sense that it would be dealer installed. I think I like the Super Rat better without the "Hodaka" sticker. However, I don't think my Road Toad would look right without it.

Re: Super Rat Resto
MTrat, I know the decal you are talking about. I have seen it on the Hodaka Super Rat poster and I have wondered if it is supposed to be on the tank. However, I bought this bike new in 75 and there were no decals on it. Does anyone know if the "Hodaka" decal should be on the tank? Linc

that stand came from "Cycle Gear". They have them on sale from time to time. It works with many different bikes and is very stable. Linc

Re: Reviving a Road Toad
I bought a Road Toad a few years ago and it also is missing the front of the battery box. I don't think that you can buy just that piece. I think that you must buy the whole battery box to get that piece. I have been thinking about trying to make that front piece. Let us know how it goes. Linc

Re: Pipe restoration
Yes, I do have a pipe with a couple linear dings that I need fixed. It's the last thing I need for my Super Rat (98) restoration. My concern is purely the cosmetic aspect. I plan on showing this bike. It has been difficult to find someone interested in fixing it. Linc
