Re: Anyone help with wiring problems?
Re-checking the harness I have, it has the light green for a Neutral switch....so must be from the Road Toad? I'll tape off all the Pink and gray wires for now, just in case I'll require indicators when the time comes. Main sticking point for me is the operation of the key switch and and wiring it f...

Ok then, I'll have a beer then read that link through properly
Being a Dirt Squirt, I doubt it'll need the regulator then.

Re: Anyone help with wiring problems?
Yes Ive downloaded the wiring diagrams, which is how I came to the conclusion I have a RT harness. lol
I also have a repro 3 position switch on the way..... Actually I thought it meant the off plus two more clicks, but perhaps not.

Re: Anyone help with wiring problems?
Thanks Dale, I'll do some searching first then and see what I can find..
Yes the light shell has a toggle switch, though it's a plastic one...Will get a decent metal one. Can't see why it's required if the key does the same thing.

Re: Project Dirt Squirt
Would an Ace rear fender be better ? The Ace fender mounting holes won't line up correctly. In my opinion, I would go with a Wombat fender, despite what I said earlier. The Dirt Squirt and Wombat frames are essentially the same, except the Wombat has a horn mount. The Wombat swingarm will bolt up t...

Re: Anyone help with wiring problems?
So first up, it looks like the first click of the key provides ignition only from magneto, and second click gives ignition and lighting from battery? Main difference I see to start with is the RT harness doesn't use the HL wire from the Ace main switch,so can I just ignore the green HL switch wire f...

Anyone help with wiring problems?
I'm hopeless with electrical work  The plan is to wire a Dirt Squirt for road use. At this point I'm not going with indicators unless I have to. Hoping someone can advise me as this goes along. So I have what I believe is an Ace main switch, a Road Toad harness and a kit lighting switch? Main ...

Re: Project Dirt Squirt
I do have the single flat plate rectifier Victor.
Had a play with the dash
Might get a small Squirt decal or somesuch to fill the blank spot on the dash, and see if I can find a rubber chair leg tip or similar to cover the switch base.

take them to a pro to polish...about 1 hour for each one and they will look like chrome Took me slightly longer than that! But got there in the end. Well if time is money, then the fenders are now priceless  Man the stainless is hard to polish. Running into a couple of hiccups though :? Hadn't thought about burning it.
Fire restrictions here anyway. Suppose I could run over it with an LPG torch?

Re: Project Dirt Squirt
Thanks Roger! My rectifier has a very short bolt through it, painted in the same orange as the unit? So it actually bolts direct to the battery box? No rubber mount? Got the kickstart back together today after a couple of near thigh stabbing incedents with a baby screwdriver  What a mongrel. IM...

Re: Project Dirt Squirt
OK point taken then :D I'll go with a new set of more standard cogs. 14/56. I'll hang the big alloy one up as a keepsake. lol So it seems there is a choice of 420 or 428 chain. I'm thinking 420 would be marginally lighter, and still plenty strong enough for a 100cc. Any thoughts here? Also I'm using...

Re: Project Dirt Squirt
Good info as usual, thanks. Yes, my headlight ears are one piece.....So maybe no factory bushing then. I have some clear tank protector film, I might use that under them. I'm going to reuse the 62 rear sprocket that was on it when I got the bike, I'll buy a 16t front. Anyone know if a 130 link chain...

Out of interest, this is the old carb inlet clamp. Now this frame etc. had been repainted Blue in it's past life but there are traces of Red on the clamp? Was this clamp painted Red from factory? I see! Thanks guys. Yes, I've got it all wrong then  In this case if you have a spare pair Victor, I'd like to buy them then. I notice you have a reflector as the fastener as well..... I didn't realise that either..... That would be better idea! Does the reflector have a long thread, or is it ...

Re: Project Dirt Squirt
Loose fitting a few things to see what I'm missing. Parts list says there is a headlight bushing? They must be very thin, fitting the bowl between these brackets, there isn't mush scope for rubbers without them angling the brackets outwards? Anyone know? Re: Project Dirt Squirt
Have a question:
I'll be using a Wombat(?) speedo and bracket:
Do they just sit on top of handlebar holders? Doesn't seem real flash that way.
