I'm not sure I have courage to make a guess on that one.

Weld it now, per the Service Bulletin - and you'll be good to go.

Oh my! I don't think I've ever seen a clutch as knackered as that one. Um don't even think about filing the clutch cage to re-use it - that one is gone.

Re: combat wombat barn find
Well dang - a reply from me went somewhere off into the ethers at about the same time Clarence posted his reply. (An offer you should probably accept before your coffee cools down.) My lost reply went something like this: EXCEPT a previous owner noticed a problem with the flywheel (almost certainly ...

Re: combat wombat barn find
I'm coming to a different conclusion. I still think that is a 2 which is partially drilled away. In addition, the new photos show (fairly lightly) the radial lines coming out from under the hub. Those lines are an indication of "fretting" - teensy weensy movements between the main flywheel...

Re: combat wombat barn find
It was a production batch of flywheels from Kokusan Denki. Note that batch numbers were called out AND measurement of the finished diameter of the rivet heads was specified.

Here is a bad copy of the HOT TIP which provides information on welding the flywheel hub.

Re: combat wombat barn find
That looks like a 2 to me, mostly because - if the bottom of a 3 is imagined as a duplicate of the imprint you can see, the 3 would be a lot taller than the accompanying letter. Were there radial stripes of rust dust extending out from the center hub when you first looked at the flywheel? If so, rep...

Do you have the various coils fully disconnected from other items while testing (so you are SURE you are measuring resistance of ONLY one electrical component at a time)?

Re: Hodaka Q&A
I'm sorry Clarence, but all the snowmobile stuff happened years before I landed at PABATCO. So I have no answers for you . . . other than a brief chat with Jim Gentry some time in the dim past. I got the impression that the snowmobile which got tested wasn't destined to be the best thing since slice...

Re: Carburetor
So it sounds like you are going to try the "SealsAll" - a good "old school" sealer. In which case, I would recommend that you consider "staking" the brass fuel inlet tube while the SealsAll is setting up. I haven't actually done this EXACT operation on a carb, so I'm gu...

Re: Carburetor
While I'm sure the 28mm carb can be tuned to work properly - I think you are going to have some issues. 1) The Combat Wombat intake manifold is made accept a flange mount carb 2) if you run the standard Wombat exhaust system, you are not likely to realize any noticeable performance improvement with ...

Re: Hodaka Q&A
I can only address the first question - The Road Toad alloy cylinder (used on Models 99, 01 and 02) had an exhaust bridge - and no, it wasn't to be removed, but it had to be "relieved". i.e. it needed to have a bit of extra clearance in order to run reliably.

Re: Model 94 carburetor
An experienced craftsman could probably restore that fitting to proper operation, but I hesitate to offer repair tips to a "first timer" (it sounds like that description may be appropriate in this case?). While the odds of serious negative effects from a failed repair are small . . . the o...

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Hmmmm, I don't know whether the Model 97 and Model 03 reed assemblies were the same. A review of part numbers would probably shed light on that. I'm a little surprised about the comment that the Combat Wombat and iron cylinder Super Rat's have the same bolt pattern. I didn't expect that. Yes, there ...

Re: Hodaka Q&A
That's it Dale. Six fins on a Hodaka alloy cylinder means it is 100cc (Model 98, 99, 01 and 02). Seven fins equates to 125cc (Model 95, 97 and 03). And for Clarence - Identifying exactly which 125cc cylinder you might have in hand gets more difficult if the cylinder has been "ported" . . ....

How about this question? How do you identify the "size" (factory displacement) of a small bore Hodaka alloy cylinder from 20 paces? (i.e. no touching, no measuring, no looking down the bore)
