Re: mechanic Pennsylvania

My CW should be done for the swap meet this year and I would like to display it with the Hodaka Club if that's ok. I have a Super Rat I'm working on restoring also and when that is done I go...

Re: mechanic Pennsylvania

fuel plus compression plus spark is what you need...compression good, my bet is on fuel especially since you can bump start it...low speed circuit problem..choke operational?..pilot jet and air passages clean, you have to crack the throttle when you bump start it don't you?

fill the tank with hot water and let it sit a few minutes..you should be able to peel them off..if not use a piece of dental floss behind the emblem like Dale said

Wheel lacing problem?

I laced up CWs front wheel last night with new Buchanan spokes I got from the site. When I tightened the nipples on the outside spokes, the heads pull out of the recessed holes on the inside of the hub. If I put a shim between the outside of the hub and the spoke and then tighten the nipples the fit...

Re: Splitting my tank thread about threads

The filler cap may bottom out on the tank before it properly seals at the mouth. This may cause a leak as the fuel sloshes around in the tank. Doubling up on the cap gasket may seal it but it's something to consider before grinding away at the filler.

Re: 250 SL holed its piston. What to do?

if the cylinder base gaskets are fiber wouldn't it be easier to double them up or would that effect port timing because your raising the ports by raising the cylinder a bit.?

Re: Chrome tanks

I understand the big differences between them. Like you said the sellers on ebay dont. Small fillers are listed as wombat tanks and large fillers as rat tanks..to most I guess a chrome hodaka tank is a hodaka tank...Was having some difficulty identifying them from the angles the pics were taken at a...

Re: Chrome tank identification

Found these tanks on Ebay but I'm having a hard time telling if they are C/W Dirt Squirt tanks or a Wombat tanks. To me they look a little wide in the back to be a CW/DS tank?..any opinions of those of you who have more experience with Hodakas would be much appreciated. thanks bob http://www.ebay.co...

Re: Chrome tanks

Max
The original I think is shot..the leaks are not in the tunnel..they are all over the top of the tank and around the filler. Even if I did seal it I dont think it could be stripped and rechromed as its probably too thin on top

The combat wombat is almost a rolling chasis now..I de rusted the tank and it sprung about 2 dozen leaks. I'm on the hunt for another. I have a lead on a wombat tank. I know they are different part numbers but how much of a difference is there between the combat wombat/dirt squirt chrome tanks and t...

Re: Fresh top end break in technique question

I usually do 4 heat cycles each one a little longer the the previous letting it completely cool down in between. First one about 3-4 minutes. Second about 4-5 third about 5-6. With each one working the throttle a little bit but not going past 1/2. Fourth one an is easy 10-15 minute ride. Once done r...

Re: Production date guesstimate

Mine is B 46966 with a July 70 date so yours I would guess is very early 1970...According to the chart mine should start with an A also but it's a definitely B ..model 93...chart appears to have some inaccuracies for 1970 production year.

Not to re-stir the pot but I just bought this bike..Just like Chris's early 100MX, according to the chart the frame number belongs to a 100B...The frame has the same letter and number stamped on it as the tag.

Inner Fork Tube Restoration

The bike is starting to shape up. Frame, swing arm, air box stripped and painted. Rear wheel polished ,hub painted and reassembled. Redwing shocks installed. I have dissembled the forks for an overhaul. The inner fork tubes are pretty well pitted in spots. What do you guys do? I have seen some prett...

Petock Removal Advice

I have the CW mostly dissembled. As far as removing the petcocks from the tank do you guys have any tips? I'm a little leery about putting a wrench on them after years of rust and junk accumulating in the threads and just twisting the petcock mount (Boss) right off the tank along with the petcock......
