Looks like you also have another interesting bike from the 1960's in the garage to keep the Hodaka company.
Couldn't get a good look at it, but the shock on the left side looks to have cooling fins on the bottom.

Re: Air Filter Logic
With that style of inner cover, there needs to be a layer of foam air filter material that covers the inside of the cover. On the original air filters of that design (original Wombat model 94 & 94a, the Dirt Squirt, etc.) the inner cover was solid, without extra holes. They didn't require the ex...

Never rode a Rickman with a Montesa engine, but I did ride a Montesa VR 250. That was one fast motorcycle.

Re: Hodaka Piston Pin
Can't say for that wrist pin, but the standard wrist pin on Hodaka 125's are 47mm long (but they are 15mm diameter). I think your assumption that it could have been for a Webco 125 kit is as good a guess as any. I sure it's not related, but I did see that a Vespa 110 had a wrist pin in that size ran...

Re: flash back
Interesting article on Daytona. I recognized a couple of the people from local motorcycle shops around here (Tampa Bay, FL). Second in the 200 was Ray Hempstead, who was manager of the local Yamaha Shop, Barney's Yamaha. His son used to race motocross back in the 1970's. In Class 3, 126-175cc: Steve...

Re: flash back
We never had good luck with the original Barnett clutch plates for the Hodaka. On other bikes they seemed to work great, they just didn't work as well as the stock plates on the Hodaka. At least that was our experience.

On the Hodaka Club site, after you log on, across the top are various link tabs (Home ... About the Club ... Join the Club ... etc) at the far right you will see three lines. Put your curser on those lines and a box will open. The second line down says "Club Newsletter - Back Issues" Click...

Re: Road Toad 02 Brake Question..
I don't have a conical front hub to check, so I can't tell you if you can mix the parts. They do have different part numbers. If they were working fine before, I would say either parts were mixed up or something didn't go together right. I would take them apart and check fit as I re-assembled.

How can I contact this pages webmaster or adminstrator?
I have a couple of questions for this page/site webmaster or administrator and I'm not sure on how to contact them. Tried private messages and email but no luck. 1: On the Hodaka Club site, when I try to access back issues of the Resonator Revisited, I can access all of them from Vol. 1-1 through Vo...

Ed,
Came through fine this time. But, like you have also noted, there doesn't seem to be a way of attaching an excel file to a post. I will check with the web master and see if there is a way.

Re: 02 Road Toad AC/DC Switch Question
That sounds correct. The AC mode should power the electrical system off the magneto. The DC mode should power certain items through the battery power. From the 02 Road Toad owners manual: "A/C - D/C EMERGENCY SWITCH The emergency switch is located on the bottom left side of the headlight body. ...

Re: "HODAKA" cover shifting adjustment
Matt, Here are some photos of the shifter case adjustment tester I use. It is made using old, damaged parts. Basically, it is just a set of damaged cases that a worn countershaft (with the shifter springs and ball receiver installed) is mounted into. A large window is cut into the cases so you can s...

Re: Hodaka Days Play Day?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I hear the main issue of just allowing riders is insurance. The land owners don't want to be liable for any injury/damage. When you sign up to race, the liability is covered by the race insurance. One way around that would be to designate a "race" or ...

Re: "HODAKA" cover shifting adjustment
As far as question #1, YES they should be the same. Other than the direction that the shifter lever moves, the internal parts should move the shifter arm the same distances and direction. As far as question #2, that's above my pay grade. If you have some damaged engine cases available and a few othe...

Re: Help to ID a Bike Model
Joe, Try dealing with Maico's from the 60's through the 70's. They would use whatever parts were on hand. Frames numbered for one model would be used for another, without any change to the numbers. So you could have a 400 with a frame number designated for a 250, etc. As you noted, can't always coun...
