Re: Decent Fuel Line???

Vic, The fuel in the fuel lines offers constant pressure regardless of which petcock provided the fuel, dependent on how much fuel is in the tank. Your arrangement isn't causing leakage, nor would rearranging the T change anything. While gravity does create a downward moment, the fuel pressure is ac...

Look for something like this in a fuel compatible material, preferably in a barb to barb configuration:

Re: Decent Fuel Line???

From what I can find, and from other informed source, MP probably isn't "Tygon", which is a proprietary fuel line made of PVC lined with FEP. So if it isn't Tygon, it is probably just PVC. Anyway, in the fine print, it says to use the stepless ear clamp. I think it is easier to use reusabl...

Re: Yellow Factory Frame 1970 100 MX

1970 Ace 100. The prefix and frame number are not anomalous, it is the Strictly Hodaka chart which is wrong. There was a time when the chart did not attempt to identify the end numbers in a build sequence, and at that time, running your frame number through the chart would have given a correct answe...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Matt, What you are describing would fall under Newton's first law of motion. Objects at rest stay at rest until acted on by external force; objects in motion stay in steady motion until acted on be external force. The external forces here would be largely drag. Seals, bearings, gear faces, tires, al...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Well, you wouldn't replace the gravity constant with F from Newton's second law of physics, because F isn't necessarily a constant, nor is it necessarily related to achievable speed, but I agree that the terminal velocity formula would be more relevant. Given that there are a number of variables inv...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Just to put some perspective in here, F=MA is a statement of how much force is needed to accelerate a given mass. Assuming you are more interested in top speed and not low elapsed times, once a machine approaches or achieves its top speed, acceleration drops to near zero, which means that the force ...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

I am not sure the secondary coil on the 93 series Super Rat is or was rated as 12 volts versus something else. rather, I assume that it technically is a 12 volt coil for two reasons. 1 is the operating voltage of the magneto, and 2 is the ohms rating of the coil. Coil resistance between 6 volt versu...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Looking at the tech specs for the 93 Super Rat as a starting point, I notice that the coil is specified at 5.35 ohms. That suggests to me that it is essentially a 12volt coil. Also, the 93 produced between 8 volts and 15 volts between 2,500 and 8,000 rpm. I think what you have there would pass for a...

. . . and what would the weight be for a lead/acid battery pack for your RC Helicopter with equivalent Watt-Hour capacity? Just curious. Ed Don't really know. I can't recall seeing an automotive class lead acid battery rated in watt hours, and RC models don't use lead acid batteries. I have seen RC...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

I have nothing against lithium batteries. I use them in lots of different applications from cell phones to flashlights to RC helicopters. My problem going in is that without knowing at least generally what the draw demands are of the ignition system, required battery capacity is a crap shoot, and li...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Max, Didn't you run a battery powered total loss system "back in the day" when racing circle track? If so, do you recall whether the battery you used was a standard Hodaka style 6V lead acid battery, and if so, do you recall how long your bike would run before ignition started to fail? Per...

Re: Identifing 125 engines

Probably right. But knowing you can look at the cylinder base to confirm displacement should answer the OP's question.

As for which parts swap between Fuji and Hodaka, I think I have heard on this forum that there are not many exchangeable parts. Anyone know?

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Are you talking about spark at the plug Victor? That is not the alternator at work. ---------------Clarence No it isn't. But you have to have a useable range of both voltage and amperage at the primary to get the secondary to do its full job. Hodaka alternators do a fair job of this but I have neve...

Re: 6 Volt Headlights?

When trying to "adapt" one style of light bulb to a reflector system made for another style entirely, you will likely never achieve what you want. Quite aside from fitment issues, which can be mastered, filament alignment generally can't be duplicated if the bulb uses a different configura...

The Webco cylinder also has the cc's cast into the cylinder base below the fins. In my limited experience, every Japanese bike has displacement info cast into the cylinder so that it can be seen from the outside of the engine.

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Look closely at the Harbor Freight battery pack. At 12V it is very likely nickel cadmium, not lithium anything. Commonly, when the instructions tell you to fully discharge before recharging, it is a NiCad battery. NiCads will loose effective capacity if not fully cycled. Lithium batteries won't do t...

If you are interested in the history of the bike, this book has the most comprehensive data and photos you will find. If you are looking for a how-to on repairs, get a manual. Smith's book is a coffee table read on how the Hodaka came to be, and what each model was and what they looked like.

Re: Identifing 125 engines

The engine number on the case will only identify the origins of the cases themselves. Much of the 100/125 engines will cross fit to the point of not really knowing what you have. On the bottom of the cylinder, below the fins, will be a number cast into the metal. It will either be a 98 or a 123 if m...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Most pre-packaged batteries for power tools are not cost effective. Don't know about harbor freight other than they are Chinese imports, so they cost less. I would be surprised to find that the batteries inside the package are high quality. There are a number of sources for the batteries found insid...
