Re: 94 Wombat Crankcase Breather - Why? + Pressure Test
Indeed! I do have a manual, first thing I bought when I bought the bike. I’ve read through the teardown/assembly sections multiple times in the last few days to mentally prepare :geek: . Definitely a few sections that I assume will be more clear once the motor is apart in front of me. I’m hoping it ...

Re: 94 Wombat Crankcase Breather - Why? + Pressure Test
Thanks dirty_rat. I'm located in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. Knowing local contacts/mechanics would be great! I'm sure it's quite possible, even likely, I'll get in over my head at some point :) I'm FAR from professional, but not totally new to small motor work. I am new to Hodakas however. Most...

Re: 94 Wombat Crankcase Breather - Why? + Pressure Test
Ok, that makes more sense. Even looking at the schematic, it looked as if it was leading to the crankcase. I suppose on closer inspection it's just at the very top of the transmission?
Regardless, cases or clutch side seal - bad news. Need to split them and rebuild. Yes?

94 Wombat Crankcase Breather - Why? + Pressure Test
Once again, I'm new to 2-strokes and Hodakas so please excuse the ignorance. I'm trying to get a 94 wombat sorted with not much luck. I've learned that crankcase pressure is pretty darn important, funny things these two strokes, so I thought - I'll run a pressure test. I hacked together a tester. Se...

Kickstart Lever - Model 94 Wombat
The kickstart lever on the wombat I recently acquired seems like it's not installed correctly. Only about half-width of the splines are on the shaft. I pulled the pinch bolt, tried snugging it up but it does not seem to want to seat further on. It looks like a previous owner beat on it trying to for...

Re: Sea level jetting - Model 94 Wombat + mixing question
Thanks guys - I went through it and running felt better, but started flooding. Stuck float. Pulled it apart again, same thing. Stuck after a few minutes of running. I'll have to diagnose further. Maybe the floats are filling? The action seemed fine. I adjusted the level slightly. I tested the valve ...

Re: Sea level jetting - Model 94 Wombat + mixing question
Also, am I crazy that the shop manual says use 3/16 ID fuel line, the petcocks seem to fit fine to that, but the connection on the carb looks way bigger, like 5/16?

Sea level jetting - Model 94 Wombat + mixing question
Guys, I'm working through a recently acquired, long sat model 94 wombat with the model b carb. It's running, albeit very rough, inconsistent, and after some basic going over I really feel is fuel system/carb related. It should be done regardless, so I'm going to go through everything from tank > pet...

Re: New Member - 1972 Wombat - General Questions
Hey Bullfrog - great tip on the A vs B type carb. I’ll pull it to identify it. I’ve been through pilot systems before, old amals with press fitted pilot jets, and it was really hard to ever get it truly right. Still, if it looks like the b type, I’ll give it a go. Worth a shot. I’m not a club member...

willoughby - thanks for the reply. I thought I had a four speed on my hands, so, goes to show my inexperience! I don't have a lot of original documentation - I've ordered it and can't wait to dig in!

Re: New Member - 1972 Wombat - General Questions
Thanks throwchain. It's been stored well, so a lot of the rubber is in good shape. I don't have a ton of experience with points (even my older bikes are electronic or have been converted) so that's a good thought. I should add new condenser and points to the list, cheap enough to replace. I should c...

New Member - 1972 Wombat - General Questions
Hey everyone, New member here and a new Hodaka owner - Model 94 Wombat (09/72 birthdate). Not new to motorcycle mechanics nor to older machines but I am brand new to 2 strokes and Hodakas. I'm looking forward to it! I've been spending some time reading the boards, getting better with searching, etc....
