Re: Relocating Condenser
I do like Dale, sort of. I also like to use a 2 wire kill switch. So, I use a double female bullet connector on the blue wire from the stator, & a triple female on the black wire from the stator. Then I use male single bullet connectors on all the connecting wires. The ignition coil, the kill sw...

Re: New to group/model 94 Carb question
If you go to the Library section on the Hodaka-Parts.com website, the specs for the carbs are listed. Dale is correct about the SH-83A vs SH-83B carbs. I’ve attached a pic of the 2 side by side, from a previous Resonator Revisited article. There are more differences than the brass top of the needle ...

175SL Spark Arrester…
2 different Hodaka fellows sent me private messages on Facebook that it was on eBay! So I snatched it up! It arrived today. As you can see in the first photo, it had one broken tab which was missing. I took it out to the garage & figured out that I had a broken ignition switch with the same gaug...

Re: "HODAKA" cover shifting adjustment
I’ve gotten used to sighting in where the end of the shifter pin sits in proximity to the edge of the inspection window. I inspected several of my functional cases and got a pretty good idea where that is. Now, I just check the location of the pin on each shifter and visually set it where my eyesigh...

Use the full editor. Click the Attachments tab Click the Add Files button Select images from your saved photos in the phone. You can click one or more, but I like clicking the last photo I want shown first and save, then repeat for each picture you want to go before the last one. When each pic is se...

Re: 02 Road Toad AC/DC Switch Question
Here’s the Toad wiring diagram! Maybe it will help you check your wires. The AC/DC switch should have the red, green & brown wires all on the same side of the switch. I believe if you have the AC side of the switch facing forward, all 3 wires go on the side closest to the left sitting on the bik...

Re: posting photos from iphone
iPhone posting is pretty straight forward. The one thing you may need to do is edit the photo slightly, to create a new “top of photo” so that it doesn’t rotate or flip upside down when it’s posted & viewed on a computer. It’s been known that unedited iPhone pics tend to show upside down on a po...

Re: Help to ID a Bike Model
My last post was a bit of commiserating with the poster. He said he felt he wasn’t welcome here. Tried to explain that we can’t always perceive an emotion behind written text. Though it’s way too easy for folks to do so. We need to make sure that we all explain things in a way that they can’t be per...

Re: Help to ID a Bike Model
Sux. There are people here who will make you feel unwelcome by their demeanor. They don’t always intend to be rude, it just seems to come out that way. It kind of happens because there is no inflection or emphasis when reading typed words. Sometimes we tend to insert our own inflections or emphasis ...

Re: clunk
If the hold snap is not secure it will spin and strike case areas. That’s probably the metal on metal clunk you’ve been hearing. However it shouldn’t be responsible for start issues or irregular running issues. Since you have a CDI ignition I would check your flywheel and your CDI unit to make sure ...

Wasn’t it stated earlier that you can use a 99/01/02 rod with the 03 Wombat crank and the 94/95/97 pistons? I think I recall someone saying that here.

Re: Run-away motor!
Another thing I’d check is this. Is the carb top missing the spacer? This gives a little bit of spring tension to the cap, kind of like a lock washer. Without it, a tightened cap could vibrate loose a little more easily? Just a thought. Victor

New 250 kick lever install…
Obtained one of the newly modified kick levers Terry Larson had made for the 250’s & 175’s. I can say it was a successful endeavor on Terry’s part! The lever fits the existing kick shaft. If I was going to rebuild the bottom end of this motor, I would strongly recommend installing the longer kic...

Singing I have no problem with! I could easily sing the lead in Phantom of the Opera!
I also become frustrated a bit too easily & want things to happen too quickly sometimes. But I did get it in and it’s assembled now.
And please don’t say it, Ed. I know, I know…
