Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Thanks Gentlemen for your help! "Snap-On" you say, I have that brand of tools also. I bought most of mine second hand though. They are the best tool. Heck for high if you buy them new, but the best. When I was about 20 I bought a set from a Mexican mechanic in Long Beach, California that v...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Does any one know if the 93A ever came with the steel foot pegs that have teeth on them or did they just come with the rubber covered pegs? I have bought several 93A's and they came with the steel pegs with teeth. I don't know if they came that way or someone just added them later. They are Hodaka f...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Look at how that afternoon sun shining in turns that red paint to an orange color. That's an original Nitto knobby tire on that front wheel. Wished I had a Nitto for the rear. I will use a Barum, I hope it will clear that chain guard without having to cut down knobbies on the left side of the tire T...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Got a little more done today on number one. Man, look at that gas tank! My goodness, that has some shine. Everything is going together real easy. All the parts are fitting back together very well. Maybe tomorrow I will paint the expansion chamber and get it on next. Also that rear wheel is ready to ...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Cool, only $47.00 for an air cleaner body? That's a pretty good price. Yes post those photos. Thanks

Hey Joe, I bought one of those cushion hubs they have for only about fifteen bucks, man that was cheap, even came with a bearing and snap ring in it. Thanks

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

OK I just checked on the Strictly Hodaka's website, and the paint they sell which is what I bought, is what they call early frame red that they say is specific for the ace 90, ace 100, ace100mx (super rat 93), and dirt squirt 96. I am just going to let my paint set for a long time and see if it hard...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

That's great to know. At least I have used the correct color for the 93 that I am building. Thanks for that info.

Re: "O Sweetness"

I must say that I was wrong about super rat front hubs not being polished from the factory at times. Joe Ormonde was right when he said that sometimes the front hub was polished on the 93 super rat as it came from the factory. There is on Ebay two rats for sale and they have front hubs that are poli...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

That's my understanding, that the early chrome tank Hodaka's used the same bright red color. I still have not investigated the air cleaner color yet.

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Wel,l according to Strictly Hodaka's paint info they are supposed to be. So I ordered the early frame red and then they have a paint for 93 air boxes and wombats. So I got both of them. But they seem the same. I will have to investigate that a little more.

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Here is a pic of an air filter cover that I was going to redo because it had some bad runs in it and I noticed I could peel off the paint with my thumbnail. That's after its been a few days drying. Maybe the weather could have something to do with it. Maybe all is not lost. I will give the rest time...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

No I will not redo it yet. I will wait until it gets warmer and give it a good chance to cure. I will do number two by the letter of Dupont though!. Yea, that's best. It could be the weather its so cold and wet here, that could be some of it. The paint looks really good too. I just will wait and see...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Since I have started to assemble number one, I have decided that I have a paint problem. I have noticed that this frame red paint that I have been using is either not drying fully or its chipping off very easily. I am glad I have not painted number two yet. Because I think I will use a DuPont (Nason...

Re: "O Sweetness"

No, Daniel Gromm of Paintless Dent Removal in Santa Rosa, CA charged me about that much to remove the dents. It had about 6 dents in it, not real big but very noticeable. Plus the rechroming and shipping about $500 at least total cost in it. Inside is real clean, no rust.

Re: "O Sweetness"

Just got in some more goodies from Salt lake chrome. Everything looks great, especially that tank. This tank is another one Daniel Gromm removed all the dents from. You cannot tell it was dented. Look at that chrome job salt lake Chrome has done on it. Just gorgeous. Only $200.00. If I tried to get ...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration

Moving forward slowly. Got the front end on yesterday. I just got in a few parts from the chromer that will give me the rest of the parts I am missing for this first bike. Specifically the chrome plated nuts and bolts for the upper triple tree clamp and also the handle bar clamps. Take a look. My he...

Re: Hodaka pewter mug

Yes, If you don't know how to do something just look online. I remember Al Gore Jr. years ago used to say the internet was the information super highway, he was very correct. I used to hire people to help me with construction and concrete work. I got tired of paying them an arm and a leg for terribl...

Re: "O Sweetness"

In a few days I will get another gas tank in from Salt lake chrome. There are quite a few items in addition to the gas tank. I hope they do a good job on that tank like they have in the past. I will post a pic of them when they come in. They do a great job and very reasonable. Thanks Gents

Re: "O Sweetness"

No put down, I took it as a complement actually. I just wanted to state why I painted the hubs rather than send them off for a ball burnishing. First, like I stated before, they definitely had paint on them along time ago. You even stated your 93A had painted hubs, Painting them I can easily do myse...

Re: "O Sweetness"

Hey Bruce, No I do not remember, But he was located on Highway 83 in Weslaco, Texas. I have heard that one of the other brothers in Hodaka has a dealers list. I don't know who that was but maybe he will see this post and respond. Hope you are well and doing good.
