While researching for suitable transmission oil to run in my 250ED I have come across the use of ATF on many occasions.
Has anybody had an experience running ATF oil in their transmission?

Trying to source a speedo cable for my 250ED here in Australia, can anyone tell me what the drive unit end of the cable is like, is it a square drive or split fork arrangement. I have a similar problem on my recently restored 250ED, it has been suggested that it maybe the oil viscosity, new oils not necessarily good for old bikes with wet clutch.
I am going to try some Motul 20/50 before I pull mine down.

To address my problem I have bought a 24volt dual filament globe (21w/5w), seems to be holding up on a couple of short rides.
Still quite bright at idle, but time will tell if it is a solution.

Has anybody got any new clutch plates anyway, 2 days of searching the internet hasn't turned up any, so I may have to hope mine are ok anyway. I remember on another bike I put washers under the springs to get a little more clutch life to get home from a trail ride.

That is the new plate thickness Darrell. Mine have measured at 2.1mm to 2.16mm thick, but can't find a minimum measurement. I have been going to find data for Yamaha (or Honda, Suzuki etc) plates and see if they have a max and min dimension that I can use to work out whether mine are too worn. I mig...
