Fuji motors??

OK, slightly of topic about Hodaka's, but my first bike back in 1973 was a 80cc Deckson Eagle, from that I graduated up to Wombat's. I had always held a dream to get another Deckson Eagle and it looks like my dream has come true! A pretty complete Eagle has come my way. I am curious to know if anyon...

Transmission oil

While researching for suitable transmission oil to run in my 250ED I have come across the use of ATF on many occasions.
Has anybody had an experience running ATF oil in their transmission?

speedo cable

Trying to source a speedo cable for my 250ED here in Australia, can anyone tell me what the drive unit end of the cable is like, is it a square drive or split fork arrangement. Or know of a compatable cable, ie-a Suzuki or Yamaha dirt bike?? I know they are available but postage from the US is horre...

Re: Clutch question

I have a similar problem on my recently restored 250ED, it has been suggested that it maybe the oil viscosity, new oils not necessarily good for old bikes with wet clutch.
I am going to try some Motul 20/50 before I pull mine down.

Re: 250ED lighting circuit

To address my problem I have bought a 24volt dual filament globe (21w/5w), seems to be holding up on a couple of short rides.
Still quite bright at idle, but time will tell if it is a solution.

250ED lighting circuit

I have finally got my 250ED on the road and registered today, which has been a bit of a hassle here in South Australia of Australia, I think the inspector didn't like stinking smokey 2 strokes (his words) and was looking for any excuse to not register the Dog, but the Dog won! I hear tales of the ta...

Clark tanks

What is the verdict on Clark tanks, the tank cap/thread is stuffed on my Thunderdog so looks like I will have to replace it. Where can these be bought, I am holidaying in Colorado in September so hope there might be an agent in Denver, I will bring it home with me to Australia and save some postage,...

Re: 250 ED oil pump adjustment

An update but i don't know if i should be concerned. Went out to Hody this morning and checked her over, noted an air bubble in the oil line. Decided on another run start and she started on the 3rd kick and ran like a charm, and watched the air bubble move up the tube! So i know the pump works, now ...

Re: 250 ED oil pump adjustment

Thanks for all the info fella's, you have been most helpful, I have done as the manual suggested other than bend the tang, I will get back to that and give it another go. The dog starts and is smoky so I suppose that is a good indication! I was concerned about the oil pump actually working as Matt, ...

250 ED oil pump adjustment

Help wanted, I'm adjusting my 250ED oil pump, the owners manual calls for the marks on arm and pump body to line up at rest, if they don't line up to bend the tang on the arm till they do. As you can see in the photos, my doesn't line up but the tang on the arm is quite solid and is resisting being ...

Re: 250ED kick starter issue

As i haven't found the missing spring nor found a replacement i have had to be creative, so i turned up this nylon bush to fill the gap. Everything seems to work as it should, i haven't started the motor after its rebuild yet so will have to wait to see if it works ok, as in doesn't rattle around to...

Re: Show us your tools

Not a unique tool story but perhaps a unique story about a tool:- When I was a lad back in 76, I had to change my Wombat points, a mate used his flywheel puller and did the job for me, I thought that a cool tool and as I worked in a railway workshop I got a toolmaker friend to machine one up for me ...

250ED oil tank

G'day gents, Did Hodaka change the capacity of the 250ED 2 stroke oil tank over the production run, I ask as my owners manual states the tank holds 700cc, so was surprised when all of my 1 litre container of oil went in with room for more, maybe another 200cc. My 30 year hiatus start up is getting o...

Re: 250ED oil pump cable

Thanks for that info ddvorak, the parts all measure out the same on mine, my nipple is still the original one and 3mm diameter. So I have to presume that the arm on the pump has become bent somehow while it was dismantled, I have no idea how, I certainly don't remember dropping it or stepping on it,...

250ED oil pump cable

Ok friends, I have a dilemma, I am assembling my 250ED motor but have misplaced the cable fitting that goes on the end of the oil pump cable, I had a fair idea what the original should look like and how it will work so I made one up as seen in the photos. But the nipple on the end of the cable won't...

250ED kick starter issue

Hello Gents, A consequence of a build that has taken too long and my disorganised style has created an issue. It appears that I have lost the spring (?) that takes up the slack in my 250ED kick starter, it is around the pivot bolt in the attached photo ( I have borrowed the photo from an Ebay listin...

250Ed kick starter

OK fella's, this has me beat for now, before I tackle it again, has anybody got any tips on getting the damn kick starter back onto the shaft? Interesting, I am just rebuilding my 250ED and not that same bolt has been replaced with a standard M10 bolt as well, I was assuming the previous owner just lost the original (but how?), now I am thinking it may have sheared of as well

Has anybody got any new clutch plates anyway, 2 days of searching the internet hasn't turned up any, so I may have to hope mine are ok anyway. I remember on another bike I put washers under the springs to get a little more clutch life to get home from a trail ride.

Re: 250ED clutch plates

That is the new plate thickness Darrell. Mine have measured at 2.1mm to 2.16mm thick, but can't find a minimum measurement. I have been going to find data for Yamaha (or Honda, Suzuki etc) plates and see if they have a max and min dimension that I can use to work out whether mine are too worn. I mig...
