Ace 100 wheel hub cleaning/polishing

Hello, I am in the process of cleaning up the wheels on my Ace 100 trials bike project.I would like to do it in house and was wondering what methods you guys/gals use? It does not have to be a show quality shine, just a bit better looking than I have them now. The photos show a before shot and an aft...

Re: Hodaka 125 Combat Wombat Trials

There has been a pretty good discussion and some confusion on the origins of these bikes over on Trials Central.

From what I read on here,I think the last fellow to post over on TC has the history of it correct now.I am glad to see Steve find a good home for it with a true Hodaka fan.

Re: Splitting my tank thread about threads

I didn,t go out and look to see how coarse the threads are,but I wonder if you could use a small cut-off wheel on a dremmel tool kinda like a file to clean the threads?

Re: Day One - New Project

Yes,the team was losing,we were in the student pep section (extra loud),I had just returned from the concession stand which was out of popcorn and then was caught by surprise from my wife with the camera. When I saw the photo she took of me it did make me laugh!

Re: Day One - New Project

Hi Max, I have been lurking around the forum and following your build/transformation of the Partridge bike. I just wanted to comment that you are doing a most excellent job on the build. It has inspired me to get off my dead bum and get on with my Ace100 build for light trials competition and trail r...

Re: Day One - New Project

I was talking with Alex Snoop yesterday about a questionable sealing surface for a crankshaft seal on my Ossa 175.He said to use a product he has been using for thirty years called Devcon two part epoxy around the seal.He use to do a lot of flat track racing and ran stuffed crank flywheels which wou...

Re: Day One - New Project

I think that was a weight saving mod.Looks like a fun project Max.The really cool thing about these bikes are all of the build options-makes it more fun and therapeutic! I,m wondering if a 93 cylinder can,t be found maybe Rich could port a 92 cylinder to run just as good ? The tank is my favorite pa...

Re: Projects

Thanks for all of the input and comments. Shorty,I like the idea of drilling from the back side and plug welding the peg mounting lug through. The peg mounts are from an old ratty Bultaco frame that I have. They worked perfectly with the Wombat pegs.I did bevel the edges quite a bit before welding.I d...

Projects

Just a few pics to show that my Hodaka projects are in the works, just at a slow pace. They are of the Ace footpeg mod for trials.I wanted to be able to switch back to standard pegs so I could use it for trail riding or maybe even a cross country event...kind of a do it all bike like they were.Any cri...

Re: Helical vs straight cut primary gears

Thanks to everyone for all of the information. Max,thats one of the reasons I asked, the primary gear seems easy enough to get from Paul (good price also),but the clutch pinion gear might be hard to source although I haven,t tried too hard yet.I would say that if your 94A made it through the ISDT RR ...

Helical vs straight cut primary gears

I think that I,ve asked this before on the old forum, but don,t remember the answer. What is the disadvantage of the helical primary gears in my Wombat vs the straight cut gears? Will it be a big deal to keep them with the reeded top end and a stock CW exhaust?

Re: Diamond Dons Vintage MX

Cool video with good music! I just finished watching a video from 2bros racing, clicked onto SH and saw this thread.I think the 2brothers racing vid was from 2012(?).He put in an impressive ride and his bike sounded really well tuned. Thanks for posting the video, looks like a bunch of fun and at only...

Wow! That was some transformation-great job! I can appreciate how much time and money went into that.I was just reading the Hodaka performance tips in the tech section and there is a bunch of helpful info in there on jetting.I will post some pictures as work progresses.

Re: ISDTRR bike

Hey Max,thanks for the words of encouragement. After re-looking over the AHRMA CC rules I see that as far as being up against bigger bikes it wouldn,t matter if I ran sportsman or classic class.

Great job on rescuing the 94a from the barn,it turned out beautful!

ISDTRR bike

Hello everyone, I was on the old forum for a short time, but am new to this one.I haven,t been able too ride much in the last couple of years and even sold off a couple of old bikes but I did keep my two Hodakas.I plan on rebuilding my 94 Wombat to ride at the ISDTRR in OH this year and will maybe ha...
