Re: Resonator newsletter article index
This is a simple but time consuming project, so Bill jump on it and I will help if you just ask. My suggestion would be to copy all the indexes that are available and past them in a Word Doc or even an Excel Spreadsheet (most volumes have an index on the first page.) Would be nice if the Topic, Volu...

Re: Wombat dead
Might be good to mention that more cut-away is leaner. Most higher numbers in carbs are richer, but not so with the slide. So a 2.0 slide that has been cut to a 2.5 will run leaner at about 1/4 throttle. I always thought they should have numbered them backwards but they didn't ask.

Rear Carrier Rack for Combat Wombat
I see pictures of the model 95 with the rear carrier rack. Looks like there are 4 different ones. Item #909030 fits models 90, 92, 92B and 92B+. Item #619030 fits model 61. Item #949030 fits models 94 and 94A and item #999030 fits models 02, 03 and 99. Which one are you guys using for the Combat Wom...

Re: Day One - New Project
I think I would be careful about making the pan any longer at the front. We used to have the stock Hodaka seat pans covered by a guy in an upholstery shop that made an extension out over the tank. It was about 3 inches long and had about 1.5 inches of "jewel" padding we called it. I don't ...

Jumping in for Ed. Here is a link for anaerobic sealant that I use: https://www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/permatex-anaerobic-gasket-maker/ . You can get customer reviews by searching Google or just search for "anaerobic" in this forum search. You can get it at most automotive stores.

Hodaka250SL, you have a lot of recommendations and I think you can't go wrong with any of them. Just see what is available in your area.

Re: Replacing a bend shifter control shaft
I would guess the ball that are pushed out in the gears by the ball receiver are hardened. So I wonder if two hardened metals against each other would be a problem. Usually you don't want two like metals rubbing against each other.

Re: Transmission oil
I use Bel-Ray Gear Saver 80W as it is a really good trans oil and it is available. There are a lot of good modern oils for cycles and I would recommend using one that is available from your local cycle shop.

Re: Different Length Clutch Screws
I am a nylock nut fan. I have used them in all my 3 rebuilds and have not had any problems. I would say that I am not a racer anymore so someone that had been abusing their engines may want to chime in.

Re: The Road Toad Starts Today!
I guess Victor will have to straighten us out but there is no snap ring in the left case. See #13 in the schematic: http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/Parts-List-B-s/2126.htm

Re: The Road Toad Starts Today!
I am sure Victor knows but I will jump in and answer. (Just to confirm that the snap ring talked about is on the right side bearing. The broken case was on the left side.) The clutch tightens up against the right side of the right bearing and therefore the bearing is squeezed between the crank and t...

They do not have adhesive on them. Most people recommend clear silicone. That is what I have used on three restores and they are still on.

Re: Filler cap gasket
Keep in mind that the tank rim seals in the very outer edge of the cap gasket, so if it has shrunk very much it may not seal. Of the 3 Hodakas I have restored none of the gaskets would stay in so I replaced all 3. They fit tight and I have not had to worry about them leaking.

No problem Tim, I did the Compatibility Spreadsheet for myself and Paul thought it may be helpful to others. Just remember it is not 100 percent accurate but maybe 99 percent. I am surprised you don't have a title for the 03 yet.

Also, try to remember there are only 2 left hand threads on Hodakas. The nut removing the clutch and the threads in the magneto where the puller screws in.

Clarence, you are talking about frame and engine numbers. I have never seen them match either. Of course the number stamped in the frame and the number on the front plate should always match.

The letter before the number doesn't seem to have anything to do with the model name or number.

Re: 1971 ace 100 undocumented serial number
Go to the Strictly Hodaka site http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/ and click on the FAQ tab at the top right. Then click on "How to Identify your Hodaka". Appears from the chart that you have a 1971 Ace 100B+ (model 92B+). Then go back to the home page and click on "Shop by Schematic"...

Victor, I got a nice charger/maintainer 6/12 volt for Battery Mart. It is on sale currently. It is working great so far although I have not had it several months but have had it connected to my 6 volt 03 battery since I got it. They have a lot of others to choose from...some cheaper and some more ex...

Bill, before you decide for sure the weep is from the O ring, check to see that the sprocket nut is tight. If it is loose oil will seep around it.
