Re: The 2 the Max Project

Cast iron/titanium is going to look great.
Bham's Vulcan has been mooning Homewood for near 100 years. Nuttin' odd there.

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Cast iron. That works. Going after the Industrial Revolution-SteamPunk look?
Or the Iron Butt image.

Re: Sea level jetting - Model 94 Wombat + mixing question

If the carb has a larger fuel inlet it is not original-- later ones have the large inlet. Gently heat the tubing end with a heat gun and stretch it over.

Re: The 2 the Max Project

My take would be to determine where the _fuel level_ is in relation to main jet atomiser (emulsifier) tube on the stock "level" setting and make sure it is at the same point with the "tilted" carb. Any adjustment would be made via the float adjustment. Since the emulsion tube is ...

Re: Good explanation of oil mixtures

Good article and good website. On the oil premix ratio it seems to me that the initial premix ratio should be determined by the oil manufacturer. For example, in the '60's when we used 30w engine oil as the premix, that ratio was vastly different than a modern 2-stroke dedicated premix oil suggests....

Re: Market for seat pans?

I'm not big into restorations, but I've refurbed motorcycles for years. Old barn finds have rusted and broken seatpans and the availability situation cannot improve with time. So the idea of replacement seatpans is a blessing. At $300-ish for seatpan and seatfoam and seatcover and maybe generic DIY ...

Sorry that you are having problems. Guess he didn't learn from his first timeout.

Best thing to do is to put him on Ignore. In your "control panel" there are buttons for friends or foes. When he is on ignore, you won't see his posts.

Re: lousy customer service

Paul and Bill and Dan and Bruce have set the standard for Hodaka parts customer service and they are a hard example to follow. It looks like Terry is stepping into those shoes very nicely.

Best of fortune to all of us. On both sides of the "Counter".

Re: lousy customer service

Great post, Paul.

The 'Net is wonderful, but has brought the baggage of a sense of instant gratification. Place the order, get the confirmation, get the shipping notice and it arrives in two days. 1-2-3-4, and if it gets out of sequence, people get edgy.

Re: lousy customer service

Matt, and 2Brothers Racing is loosely connected with Hodaka Dave Rozier. Need we say more? Makto-- I buy from SH when I can, but since his stocks are getting depleted and there are things he doesn't have, I'll check with H-P next. Bruce with HP in Idaho deals mainly in older used parts and doesn't a...

Re: lousy customer service

I've never had problems with H-P INC. A problem with running a single-proprietor biz is that you can spend all your time catering to squirrels via phone or email. This gets especially bad considering that H-P has a thoroughly complete website. Never had problems with Dan, don't expect problems with ...

Victor-- at the top of the posts are three buttons: Quote. Report. Edit.
No delete as such, but you can edit down to a period.

Edit-- oh wait, I see an "x" button on new posts, so I guess they can be deleted within the first few minutes.

Re: Be Safe!!!!!!!

Great discussion. When I stated riding again in 2000 after an 8-year break, I took the MSF Advanced Rider course. Best advice I've ever followed. Even after riding for several years, I'd recommend taking the ARC every few years as a refresher. Simply because complacency sets in and you can get soft....

I'll agree with Ed-- FB has a clunky interface for following "discussion forum" type of, uh, discussions. It's more oriented to "look what I've posted on my Wall/personal area". It can be used for forums, but not easily. I use it for keeping up with old college/school friends and...

Re: The 2 the Max Project

Sweet! Nice work on the chrome.
And yes, Simichrome is the #1 go-to for fine polishing. For cleaning or rough polishing use a "coarser" grade of paint rubbing compound, it cuts faster. Grade 000 or 0000 steel wool works well, too.

And nice job on the brake linkage.

Ah! "Ring-a-ding". I was trying to remember the proper 2-stroke phonics. All I could do was "Zun, Zun, dap-dap-dap" but thought that'd be a bit obscure.
