Re: Rear brake light switch -replacements?

Yes, that switch will work fine. I've had one for a few years until I found a NOS switch to replace it. You may need a slightly stiffer spring than the original Hodaka spring though, ("Ace is the place...").

Mike at CPI Racing. He built my pipe for the Sleeper Ace. As well as a few others for those of us in Northern Utah. Reasonably priced too. You can find him on Facebook

Re: Turn Signals on an Ace 100?

Take a look at the Model 94a Wombat wiring diagram. Pay particular attention to the pink and gray wires. All you would need to do is add the pink and gray wires indicated in the Wombat 94a diagram, to your existing harness. The switch will be the hard part. Either use an aftermarket switch or use on...

Re: Ace 100 No Spark Troubles

As long as the engine is turning you will have spark. This spinning magneto creates the spark. So you can starve the engine of air but you’ll have to continue to do so until engine stops running completely And yes, the ball is necessary it acts as a detente between the switch positions. Otherwise, t...

Re: Ace 100 No Spark Troubles

Black is the HOT wire. Blue is ground. Both must be connected to get spark. To diagnose sparks issues, simply disconnect the 4pin connector near the key switch. This isolates the ignition circuit. Make sure you have a kill switch or some way to kill the engine in case it starts and goes into runaway.

Pay attention to wr450fgreg’s comment regarding the wire rope. Works great! Works better if you flay the end so that it makes contact inside to “brush” the carbon off the inside.

Mounting tabs are slightly different. You’ll need the Road Toad (02) rack, if memory serves.

Re: VM20 Ace Carb

It wouldn't be difficult nor cost prohibitive to fabricate your own VM22 intake manifold from an existing VM20 manifold. Theoretically, cut off the flange of the manifold, replace it with new aluminum stock, drill/shape the holes, (use the old flange for the location and shape of the intake cavity),...

Re: Oil Leak

Local Motorcycle shops probably have templates for Hodaka. Our local Honda/Yamaha dealer does. They can do all the gaskets except head and exhaust for each of my 90's, 100's, and 125's. Your local shop should be able to do it too if they have a gasket cutting machine.

Re: Stator Plate Wiring

You can use outdoor telephone wire or computer network cable. Both are about the right gauge and the telephone wire is solid core. Some network cables are not solid core, so telephone wire might be the better option and easiest to find. One of the twisted pairs even has a black insulated wire. $0.02...

Re: Nitto tires?

Hodaka was unique in the date of manufacture. Let`s say you have a 1972 Super Rat manufactured in December of 1972, it`s a 1972. ALL the other Japanese Motorcycles had a cutoff date. A 1975 Honda was manufactured in 1974 up to July or August and after that it became a 1976. Hodaka was different. Th...
