Re: 5 3/4" 6v 35/35w H4 Halogen semi-sealed beam
Another update: Worked on the Wombat trim ring today. I'd call it successful. Still a little snug with all the wires in the bucket. But I could widen the headlight opening a little more or adjust wires so they are not in the way. The only other real issue was that my trim ring was out of round and I...

Re: 5 3/4" 6v 35/35w H4 Halogen semi-sealed beam
OK, I received the headlight a couple days ago, but I had a mishap last Friday and now I'm sporting a whizzy-go-fast orthopedic boot on my right leg, (broke my ankle). Anyway, here's what I got so far: As you can see the light is actually a little bit bigger. The lens measures 5 3/4 but the reflecto...

Re: Ignition Mixing
Laurie, Definitely use the Voltage regulator. And this replacement headlight that I purchased, (it should arrive today), will definitely fit the Ace90 bucket/ring. It's a semi-sealed beam 6v 35/35w halogen H4 bulb. Would make for an inexpensive replacement if the need arises. Other than the headligh...

Well, after visiting with flyingdg this evening, I purchased one this evening. I decided it was worthwhile to try. If successful, I think this would be a fantastic replacement option. I'll keep you informed.

5 3/4" 6v 35/35w H4 Halogen semi-sealed beam
This item sparks my interest: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330992935255?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648 With minor modification, I think these would work. All they would need is the brackets on the rear of the lens which could be easily fabricated out of some thin sheet metal, or p...

As far as an Ace needing a regulator, see my previous reply to this post: http://www.hodakaforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=263dleclair wrote:I also have an ace that I'm gonna put back on the road, should I put a regulator on it as well?

Re: Model 94 vs 94A interchange
I'm glad this thread came back. I'm a visual learner so I made this image below. Do I have this correct on how to wire the regulator on an early Wombat (94 and 94A)? What is different is that single female connector on the green wire from the Main Harness was replaced with a dual female connector in...

Re: Ace 90 piston size identification
I had a similar problem. I solved it first, by determining standard size bore, and what over-size pistons were available. Then I took the cylinder to the machine shop and told them that the standard bore size is 48mm and which over-sizes you can get parts for and ask them to bore it to the smallest ...

Model 94 vs 94A interchange
After seeing all the nice looking bikes at Hodaka Days this past June, I decided to begin a search for an early Wombat. In the next few months I was able to find two of them; a model 94 and 94A. Both need a new piston to run, but between the two bikes I have enough parts to restore one or the other,...

Re: Ace 90 mysteries
Just give the battery a full charge if you can, then if the tail lamp dims and brightens with the engine, you'll know it's not working. I would suggest finding a new battery rather than monkey around with a known bad one. You can find them for less than $20. I got mine from Batteries Plus. But they ...

Re: Ace 90 mysteries
All your questions have been answered many times in the old forum, but since it's no longer available, I'll do my best to summarize: 1. You can use any 6v 15/15W bulb as long as you can get it mounted. The Light coil could probably handle an 18/18W bulb, but I think that would be the limit. The 6v 1...

Have you seen this?
Crazy indeed, but the headlight bucket and fork ears alone are worth much more than he is asking.

Re: removing ethenol from fuel
I can't take credit for this link because it was posted before. http://klemmvintage.com/gasolines.htm I found it to be VERY informative concerning ethanol-laced gasoline, the myths of what "octane" is, and other types of fuel. It was this article that helped me understand Octane and when I...
