Re: Oil seal

The seals getting hard I’m used to, but this one was actually brittle, those two conditions don’t provide a good seal and can cost you a motor if you don’t take the time to change them after a long period of non use.

Re: What size 3 ring binder???

If you use my option you can take out any single pages you might need and they stay nice and clean. Then just return them to the correct place.

Re: What size 3 ring binder???

Take it to staples and see if they can match you up with something. Or get page protectors, separate the manual and use the protectors in a standard binder. I have a full set of BSA parts books set up like that. Protects the pages and keeps them clean.

Re: Crankshaft assembly question

I think he’s looking at outside distance so it can be pressed and not be too wide or too narrow. My guy usually measures that distance before he disassembles the crank.

Re: Difficulty Starting Rat

Take a small punch, smaller across then the key, and tap the key out. Work from the outer end, it should roll right up out of the slot. No need to gut the motor again.

Re: Difficulty Starting Rat

You should check that the shafts turn at several steps of assembly. Before the cases go together, after they are together, any time you put something on a shaft make sure it still spins free. You put the clutch on, spin it, you put the flywheel on, spin it. That way at least you know what may be wro...
