Re: ‘Nuther One

Victor, yes, I'm pretty sure his name was Chris - young guy, nice, just bit off more than he wanted to for a project.

Re: ‘Nuther One

Thanks Bill! Hate to admit it, but my plans for this one have more to do with outfitting the early race bikes (hub, forks, swing arm, top end), than an 03 resto. No rush right now, so she'll get prepped and tucked into the project line. -Laurie And yes, that bugle shaped "silencer" is pret...

‘Nuther One

So y’all know how Aggies count sheep?
Like this: One, two, three, and another one, and another one, and another one…
Here’s a happy ending to the thread with the fellow complaining about the cost of parts last week:
Picked up his running 03 for $347 yesterday.

Re: spokes

Hey Eric, I don't have any on the shelf, but I have a decent wheel that I can scavenge from.
If you come up empty, let me know - I'll need to get the tire off and get things apart, but can probably get it done next week.

+1 on Brian's comments.

Hodaka on the Texas Mile

In other Hodaka news, Aaron Sanders got his little 100 on the Texas Mile this weekend. Turned 11,000 RPM in 4th gear, but wouldn't pull in 5th - but still posted a top speed of 78 MPH. A couple of years ago, the same bike established the category record of 86.4 MPH Here's a video someone shot (rando...

Re: ISDT Reunion Ride Mini Report

I can't explain or defend it. But every rider I meet either hates cross country and loves MX or hates MX and loves CC. Put me in category #1 I did get what I deserved for a poor attitude: All weekend I looked forward to the 5 laps of MX at the end - got a good start, finally having a blast...and thr...

ISDT Reunion Ride Mini Report

Hi Folks, just got back from my first attempt at an ISDT Reunion Ride - the Tulsa Edition Wonderful event, met a ton of folks, and so great to see the fellow Hodaka-philes out in force! Met Max Good, his lovely wife, and killer bike. Max and I paused to shared a moment of misery halfway through the ...

Re: Winter projects...

Clarence - good to talk to you today - thanks for the heads up on Indian stuff. Winter is coming up there - stay warm! MTRob - I sure appreciate the offer. As my husband calls it, my "Hodaka Parts Empire" should suffice for spares...but thanks so much for the offer! Y'all have a great week...

Roberto, la mia strada è lunga, e il tempo per denaro Minarelli.
How's that? :D
MTRob, I don't have the numbers in front of me, but when I checked, the Ace frame and engine matched (in that Hodaka way) and dated to early '65.

Winter projects...

Made a sweet deal on this little number, a one-owner early Ace with just under 900 miles - complete with tire pump! http://i.imgur.com/TgkRghSl.jpg And just down the road from the Hodaka… http://i.imgur.com/79OJCCcl.jpg I know zero about Indians - preliminary looking says it’s a ’68 or ‘69 - either ...

All, thanks for the great advice. Not my favorite task (though removing ancient tires is a close second).

Re: Swingarm Bushing Replacement

Thanks Rick, I remember a good discussion on the old forum, couldn't yield much results with a search on this one.
Might try to build a puller (like a piston pin puller). The edges of the bushing are so doggone thin, hard not to mushroom them with a punch.
Have a great weekend!

AHRMA Race Highlights from Arkansas

Super Combat was flawless (unlike the rider). As much as I'd love to upload footage of my amazing skills and multiple wins, all I really have to offer is a comedy of blunders and embarrassments (with small glimpses of mediocre riding). This was a fun weekend! I think y'all might enjoy watching this ...

Re: 125 wombat flywheel

Hi Jerry, this might be a stupid comment, but did you remove the 14mm nut first? :D Gear puller = bad, be sure to use a proper Hodaka flywheel puller. Excessive heat may damage some wires and the condenser, but if it was water-damaged, you'll be replacing that stuff anyway... Oil, and a few moderate...
