Re: My 03 Wombat lives!!..well maybe soon.
I have a set of Rich's carbon reeds that he set up for me. I also have a set of the duel stage reeds and have run both on the dyno with a open manifold. and a stock 03 manifold with the stuffer. The duel stage run's better down low and through the mid range, both reeds performer about the same on to...

Re: Carb cleaning...a chemical carb dip or the Hornady Hot Tub?
OK guys...the results are in. The images below are after one 30 minute cycle thru the Hornady Hot Tub ultrasonic cleaner. Temp was set to 140 F and the solution was about 25% Pine-Sol & 75% distilled water. Standard spray-down with brake cleaner was performed before I brought the carb in the ho...

Funny story
Last night at work I got thinking about a funny story about a friend of mine and what he did back in about 2003-04. It's just to funny not to share. This friend of mine who we will call John (because that's his name) All of his life he has idolized Jaroslav Falta and all things CZ. The start of the ...

Re: Relieving the exhaust port bridge - a 41 year old mystery SOLVED?
The only problem I have ever seen with putting the oiling holes in a piston was the time a friend thought he could judge the center of the piston! He put the cylinder on and when we looked in the exhaust port and there was two small holes right next to the bridge. Like Maxwell smart on the get smart...

Re: Relieving the exhaust port bridge - a 41 year old mystery SOLVED?
Thank you Danny. When Doug has time to respond, maybe he can give us an idea of how far down from the top or up from the bottom the holes are drilled as well. Also, can we safely assume that there is no weakening of the piston that would occur here with the two small holes? I would think not, but j...

Re: Relieving the exhaust port bridge - a 41 year old mystery SOLVED?
This is what a exhaust port bridge should look like after you use a stone to relieve the bridge fine_cratex2.jpg This is what a piston looks like that has started to stick. P9260015Large.jpg This is what I do with every bike I have that has a bridge. Put the piston on the rod without the rings, put ...

Re: Can someone add me to the farcebook group?
The request to join the FB group should have went to the moderator of the group, so they can say yes or they can reject or block you. I don't know who that is for shore. I guess all you can do is hope they see it and except the request.

Rubber intake manifold fix
I seen over on the Facebook hodaka group that there was a discussion on how to fix a old rubber intake manifold. This has been a headache for me as I have got three new ones from a hodaka parts suppler that only lasted for about a hour before coming apart. This left me with making my own and this is...

Re: Day One - New Project
The fun of building old bikes is making them better or perform better than new. This just some of the stuff I've made for my bikes with just a welder a grinder and the will to make it. I like checking out what Max has come up with on his hodaka to make it his hodaka.

Re: Wombat Dyno
We're working on the circle F pipe to lower the Max Torque RPM. One thing about the pipe Tim made that is interesting is there is a big difference between 10 and 11 foot pound of torque on the butt dyno.

Re: What frame to use?
I used a K&N filter form a 84 CR500 in my stock 72 wombat filter. I did this so the stock cover had about 1/3 to 1/2 inch gap around the inner filter base for more air flow and still had a stock look to it.

Re: Wombat Dyno
Here is the dyno run we made today with the circle F pipe and the Boyesen duel reed and 03 manifold. It cost's $75 to make three pulls on the dyno and I had used all three so I never got a chance to put other reed's and a open manifold on to see what it would do. The second sheet is of a bone stock ...

What frame to use?
I'm thinking about building a bike to use for the Bad Rock ride next year. The question I have is if you could start with a 03 frame or a 74 super combat, what would be the best one to use? Also what bottom end is the best to start with a 94 or the 03?
