Re: Is my coil good?

Dale! Thanks for the link. I saw that earlier but I have no D size batteries lying around. Since we are on lock down not sure when I will pick a few up. Since you bring up the link, maybe I can get my neighbor throw a couple my way. Hopefully he can throw more than 6 feet!

Re: Is my coil good?

Thanks throwchain!! - I've added a new condenser but wanted to check coil with you guys. Now that I know that the coil should be good need move down to the points and ignition primary coil.

Is my coil good?

I had spark then nothing. I've looked over my wires down to the points and they all look "ok" to me (a rookie). I have a Ace/Rat frankenstein so I'm not sure where my coil has come from. Before I follow Socalhodaka coil repair video and cut into my coil, I thought I'd ask the experts My re...

Re: Combat running amazing...then not.

Joe thanks for reminding me of the Library. Great info there. After pursuing the articles my list is now longer; new condenser, check my plug cap, change points to .100" BTDC, change to NGK B10HV, modify front forks for better damping and more travel, weld my flywheel, check my gearing, etc.

Re: Combat running amazing...then not.

Thanks Ed - I always wondered about that little vent hole. You have put my mind at ease. Once I get the new condenser I will definitely go back to the 180 and restart testing. Rather foul a plug then rebuild an engine.

Re: Combat running amazing...then not.

Thanks thrownchain - I would not have thought of the plug cap. I'll start with condenser then move down your list. Thanks MTrat - I have the original cap with that tiny hole that I know is clear, but MAN that is a tiny hole. I'm thinking of looking for a cap with a bigger vent as I don't want to mes...

Combat running amazing...then not.

I'm trying to race my 95 (Vintage MX) but I'm running into an issue I've yet to figure out and I need your help. This is what is happening: Bike is warmed and runs amazing off the line and for the next two laps, but then half way through the third lap it starts to backfire, then sputter and dies. No...

Solved: Help with where to start to find my issue.

I've got a Ace 100 that I just redid the bottom end. I also inspected the clutch and the friction plates were right at 2mm and all plates seemed not to catch on the outer ring. After all put together, adding 20oz SAE 30, I start it up and I hear a "whirling" and no go. It feels like it's g...

Thanks Max! Yep I'm open to recommendations to qualified people to rebore. I'm in the TriCities, WA area, but could ship it out.

Re: Help me spend $200

Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it. I now have a couple questions about rebore (I'm a newbie about all this). To me the cylinder looks good but I'm OK if a rebore is needed. These are the broken piston diameters I've recorded 49.69mm 49.78mm 49.76mm 49.79mm I can fit a .006 feeler gaug...

Help me spend $200

I need to purchase a new piston assembly and probably a top end rebuild package for my reeded Ace 100 but before I purchase I need to know the difference between the Model 93 and 98 Super Rat reed valve pistons I see on hodaka-parts.com but I can't get a hold of anyone there. Can anyone tell me how ...
