Re: Paint
A couple years ago, I spent a few weeks and the extra dollars for a professional color match. The end result was an indistinguishable color match against the test frame. I used the main Frame support under the tank that looked to have never been exposed to direct sunlight and the inside of an early ...

Re: ace 100 project
i should be able to replace the seals and the one bearing and the o-ring on the kick shaft and be good to go.... yes, but I would highly, with a really persuasive nudge, highly recommend replacing all the bearings and seals while you have the engine cracked open. Did I mention I would highly recomm...

Here is the same wiring diagram with all the extraneous bits removed. Re: Left Side Case Question
When I was building my Rat, I noticed a couple things concerning the M-series engines. My Rat was a very early model 93, built in Oct 1969. It's engine had a left side that was trashed and like you, I thought I could just swap out a standard 100cc left side. Not so... While looking for a replacement...

Re: 94 Wombat Piston Stamp Question
I've seen this a few times. It's a standard size piston. The stamping is 6.5, and as I've understood, somehow corresponds with the number stamped on the cylinder deck that is usually preceded with a "+" that is equally mysterious.

Sounds like you are missing the horn and hi/lo beam switch. or at least the wires are not there. The Horn/Hi/Lo beam switch sits on the left side of the handlebars and connects inside the headlight bucket to the same color wires you indicated. You can find wire diagrams here: https://www.strictlyhod...

Re: Parts compatibility regarding model 94
Exact same part with one minor difference in that the wires go through the back rather than from the bottom through the fender. Just drill a hole in the back of the taillight mount and few will know the difference.
If you need a photo, I can get one.

Yes. To expand a little further. The ignition circuit and the Battery circuits are two isolated circuits and not dependent on the other. You can completely remove the lighting coil and it's associated wiring, to include the key switch and all the lights and still have a running bike... This also mea...

Re: PVL on my CW
PVL does not support lighting, PowerDynamo does. I've wired three PowerDynamo systems for lights. Rated at 12v and 80w or 100W output, (depending on which version you use), allows you to easily run those 12v 55/65W H4 bulbs that you can pick up at any auto parts store. I have two Powerdynamo systems...

Re: Seat Pan Revival
Just give the resin something to “grab” onto by grinding the entire surface that will be covered. No paint! Needs to be bare metal. You can also increase adhesion by drilling small holes. It goes without saying that any metal work must be complete before glassing. This could work rather well and rea...

Dunno about yours, but my kick shaft will not go on if the pinch bolt is in place. Remove the pinch bolt completely, make sure the spring tang is lined up to the hole on back side the kick shaft and it should slide right on, as long as there is no damage to the splines. Removing the clutch cover mak...

Re: Wombat head bolts
Those are correct for the 125cc Wombat motor. Not all Wombats had them though. The longer bolts were used to mount the head brace to the frame. It attached from the right side of the head. It help cut down vibration in the late 94 and 94A engines. The longer bolts were in the right side of the bike....

Re: question
Short answer is that it means absolutely nothing that is useful to us as the end users.
It was used by the original engine builder in the Hodaka factory so that they could match up pistons to cylinders. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but that's what I've come to understand.

Re: Seat pans
<snip> I am still not clear on any possible differences in foam shape between models that were supplied with the same seat pan. For example: The Ace 100 B, the Ace 100 B+ and the Chrome Tank Super Rats (93, 93A & 93B) all used the same 939022 seat pan. But was the foam the same on each of these...

Re: Seat pans
Wow Dale! you always do great work. I think I can help clarify. For the purposes of this post, I would like to make the distinction that when I refer to a pan, it is a seat pan without the mounting hardware. You'll see why very soon. For part numbers 909022 and 939022, the only difference is the mou...

Re: Market for seat pans?
There is a distinct difference in the mounting hardware between the seat pans on the model 94 Wombat and the 99 Road Toads. The rear mounting tabs are longer and provide fender clearance on the Road Toads. So there are at least 2 styles amongst the large framed 100's and 125's. Thanks Dale. I was w...

Re: Market for seat pans?
It seems there there is plenty of interest but no commitment. I can make the same pans of fiberglass and even thought there was some interest, there was no real commitment but one. It seems that you have to make a gamble and hope it works out. Much like Jamie McAdams did with the shocks and inside s...

I think the Manual actually says that the oil should measure about 6 inches from the top when full. Or it could be 8 inches. Can't remember for sure but when I read that in the manual looking for the same answer, I remember chuckling to myself thinking, "yeap, that's 1967..." ;-) The manua...

Re: Twin Rat Restoration
When I worked at an autobody shop many years ago, we would put a little dish soap in with the water to break the surface tension of the water while placing decals. This allowed the water to flow over the surface without any beading. Also, it sounds like the paint Paul sells is an acrylic enamel. A s...

Re: Hodaka battery #
This is a standard size for the 6v 4.5Ah SLA battery. I've been using it for 3 years and fits fine. In fact, I'm on my 2nd battery after 3 years. The first one would have lasted longer if I had remembered to put it on a tender over the winter; but it still lasted 2 years. I use a 1 inch piece of bla...
