Re: Dirt Squirt suspenders
Hosk, I think you got a deal and it looks great as is. A '73 M94A 125 Wombat is a great bike and the frame and engine numbers never matched but they're from the same machine and they only made that model for that year. I can understand your disappointment as you though it was a Squirt but I think yo...

Re: Victor’s Ace B Project!
No it’s the other one, the Ace B+ which has the overlay. I’m not home right now so I’ll post you a pic of that wheel tomorrow! For now I’ve really sprayed it down with PB Blaster. I’ll let it sit over night & then try something with heat leverage! I’m sure that will do the trick! :ugeek: Victor...

Re: Victor’s Ace B Project!
Keep up the great work! You guys are cruising through. Have you tried Heating the steering nuts to break them free? Maybe a monkey wrench, they might not survive it but it’s worked for me in the past. Either way good luck and thanks for the consistent updates, it’s great watching a project unfold. A...

Friend just picked up an SL250, advice needed
Hello all, I have a friend that just picked up a ‘77 SL250 that’s really clean and in great shape, tool kit and all. I don’t know much about them so I thought I’d ask for some basic info to get started. Looks like the oil injection is still installed but the feed tube connected just behind the right...

Too cool! I like where they mounted the ignition switch too, in front of the battery. I'll bet it's a whole lot safer there than out in the breeze.

Re: Coil will shock me but no spark! (dirt squirt)
Rylan, My M94 Wombat likes to do the same thing, dump gas all over once it's sat for while with fuel in it. Usually the culprit is the float valve, it regulated the flow of gas from the tank into the float bowl to then feed the carb I fully agree that your carb needs a rebuild or at the very least a...

Re: Cabled Choke???
Viclioce, I've had luck with putting carbs in HOT water. I have a electric kettle in the garage specific for the purpose. Its worked great on lever chokes that are stuck as well as slides and various other things. Its also handy in temporarily softening up hardened rubber parts too. Just my 2 cents....

Re: Primary gear removal
Cruiser, Terry does have them available, here's the link: http://hodaka-parts.com/item.asp?cID=0&PID=6550 I highly recommend it. Every Hodaka I have had kick starter slippage issues when I got them. On my Ace 100 dirt bike hadn't been ran since the '80's and the only things I found that could be...

Re: Primary gear removal
Cruiser, I’m realatiy new to Hodakas but have rebuilt 3 and I’ve never had to use a case splitting tool. Once all the case screws are removed, Trans is drained and barrels removed a few light taps was all it took. I use a hammer and a 1” x 2” scrap bit of wood and tap the on the thicker parts of the...

Re: Lighting Coil Testing on an ACE 100
Al and Matt, Thank you both for the info, looks like I passed right over it, proof that I need to get more familiar with my manual. In some instances, these bikes are so simple and straight forward I forget to check it before I act. Luckily, it hasn't bit me in the rear yet (fingers crossed.) I'm us...

Lighting Coil Testing on an ACE 100
Hello All, The kids and I are still plugging away on their '68 ACE 100. Unfortunately, now we're encountering electrical gremlins... ones that we may have made (the worst kind.) We rewired the whole bike, per wiring diagram, and everything worked other than the head light. At present I want to test ...

Re: Show us your tools
In contrast to the beautiful Ballards micrometer timer, this is a simple TDC indicator built by my late brother in high school shop in the mid '60s. That's an Ace 90 NGK B-7 plug base! I would ride my Ace 90 to school during the week then strip it down for the Sunday scrambles outside of town. The ...

Points grease
Hello All, just wondering what your using for points cam grease? I’ve been using the waterproof Bel-Ray grease on the cam and wick, same stuff I use everywhere else it’s required on my Hodakas. I just got my M94 Wombat back together with a new top-end, following a seizure and noticed some rub marks ...

Damn Geary! Is that the same case from you other thread? Either way that is an impressive repair. I’ve never seen what ice could do to a motor but I’m glad my bikes winter in the confines of the garage. As far as scars go that is an impressive one too.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow! I'd be interested to know how that one happened. Looks like its time to search out a new case half, probably be easier than welding it up... however, a weld bead across a case looks pretty cool and chick dig scars

Re: Ace 100B+ piston seizure
In the previous thread, didn't we talk about the possibility of air leaks? Before you do the bore job, I'd recommend reinstalling the cylinder with a new base gasket and head gasket (with or with out piston - if without piston, be sure to wrap/pad the rod end so no damage will be done if you should...

Re: 1982 Combat Wombat on CL Seattle
Looks like it has the top motor mount as well. Tank and cap are correct for a '72 Wombat. With the air cleaner and exhaust still connected there might be hope that the crank, cylinder and such are in good shape. I'd probably jump at it for $500 or so if it has a title.

Re: Ace 100 Clutch Spring Question
Thrown, Both sets of springs are paired up. I could call Hodaka Parts but their website says they’re sold out of the larger diameter springs. My question is can I use the smaller diameter spring pair, inner and outer, that are in the right side of the photo? The larger ones on the left are the ones ...

Re: Ace 100 Clutch Spring Question
Thanks For the reply Tether. I wanted to replace mine because the outter springs have compressed to 16.5mm, per the manual they’re supposed to be 20mm. The inners springs were 17.6mm, manual lists spec as 17mm, but I figured replacing them as a set would be best. Before I took it apart the clutch wo...

Ace 100 Clutch Spring Question
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. The Mrs let me escape to the garage for a bit to work on my kids Ace 100 clutch. I’d just ordered some clutch springs for it and to my surprise their different than what came out. To cut to the chase, can I use the new springs with what I have? New springs are part #9140...

Cuzncletus, while I haven't done the mod you're mentioning I have had the unfortunate luck of trying to drill hardened plate. I was making motor mounts for my ol' 1955 Dodge Truck from some scrap 1/4" plate that I got from a local metal recycler. I didn't have any problems cutting (w/ oxy/ace) ...

Re: Ace Sprocket Carrier, Accessory?
Anyone find one in their parts collection? I'd really like to see some photos as to what the adapter looks like and how it mounts.
The kids and I are getting to the point in our project where we're discussing where to put the overlay sprocket when not in use. So I figured I'd check.
Thanks,
Bev
