Re: Wiring Harness for Hodakas

Darn! I wish I would have know/heard/seen this earlier. I just forked out $30 for connectors and wire covering from http://www.vintageconnections.com. I need to do my kids Ace 100, including ignition. Oh well, maybe I'll save some headache by letting the kids do the brunt of the work.

Re: help with seized carb parts

I just went through that same thing last month, scored a complete and encrusted 20mm carb of eBay that was frozen solid. I too ended up soaking it in full strength Pinesol for about 7 to 10 days (makes a garage smell really nice too) and rinsing it with hot water and then using a hairdryer to heat t...

Re: Ace compatability 90 vs 100

On a related note, after reading this thread I was surprised to find that the '68 Ace 100 that my kids and I are rebuilding does indeed shift 1 up and 4 down. Quite the surprise! Looks like I need to REALLY look at the manual because I completely missed that fact. Now that I think about it and wonde...

Re: Hodaka 250 sl 70a finished

Congratulations!!! I think you're going to spend as much time talking to people about Hodaka's as riding yours. There can't be too many that have made their way in Germany. I do remember seeing a lot of 2 stroke oldtimer's during my time there, usually Zundapp, MZ and Jawa's out and about as well as...

Re: Left side crankshaft washer

I'd split the cases and install it, if for nothing more than peace of mind. He's my experience, shortly after buying my Wombat (94) I discovered it needed a top end rebuild among other problems. While taking the engine apart I noticed the DPO put that same thin washer your speaking of in as the thru...

Matt, I couldn't agree more. As far as the name...it's just a coincidence. However, I'm not above taking on the roll, to "grease the wheels." Not to get to philosophical but I believe you get what you give, and that if you do good... you'll attract good and good people. Personally, I found...

Re: Hodaka 250 sl 70a finished

Well done, that is one fine looking machine, and best of luck with the TUV. When I lived in Rheinland Pfalz, I had my old '66 Triumph with me and the TUV inspectors were less than kind. I know they had a job to do and they had their reasoning but they seemed to despise old machines. I was there with...

Yep, the kids and I are slowly but surely getting an '68 Ace 100 roached out desert racer back into service. I started a thread on here years ago... guess its time for an update. What's your interest, starting one yourself?

Re: Ace 100 Clutch Cage question

Well, looks like I had to PN wrong is 994004, so it’s for a RT. Any chance it may work or would it just be better to buy the correct one? I’m only out $30 off so.

Thanks

Ace 100 Clutch Cage question

Just received a clutch cage I bought off eBay for an Ace100. Seemed like a good deal but.... we’ll its a bit thinner that the one coming off ‘68 Ace 100 the kids and I are rebuilding. Both are roughly 4.25 in in diameter but the old one is about 25/32” thick and the newer is 23/32” thick. The new on...

Re: Forks: Stick a fork in them?

I've had good luck with filing down the high spots on the forks, degrease them and filling the pits with JB weld. I carefully use a jeweler's file to level off the JB after it cures for a few days. It usually takes a few times to get all the pits. I file it very lightly from a few different angles a...

I hear ya Matt! I settled on a knock off plug and wrench holder but I'm in the market for a Webco Ace gas cap, the small one, for the father / kiddo project. Haven't seen one any where for awhile.

DG29, I just moved from Yucca Valley last year and can honestly say that you hit the nail on the head. There are way too many tweakers and other shady characters in that area. Personally, I think you made a smart decision, I've had friends who've lost stuff in locked containers too. When you said Ya...

Viclioce, I believe I found them in the hardware section, the isle with all the bolts, nuts, special fasteners and assorted implements of attachment. I had to look for a bit... and then I asked one of the staff because I was feeling like the lost village idiot. They were in one of the bin/cases that...

Re: Green Road Toad Work!

Viclioce, If your missing the little rubber cover for the brake light switch I found that Home Depot has a "bolt thread protector" that will fit and has enough room for the little rod in the switch to travel to and fro. If I recall correctly its 1/2", I put a bit of silicone to keep i...

Hodakagirl, Congratulations to you and your son. I hope all went well with the Crucible. It is a bear, I remember going through it myself, fond memories now... not so fond then. Re: Where can you mount a RT reg on an M94

I ended up going with Ed and Matt on this one, I still haven’t got the garage up to snuff from the move, so drilling 2 holes and running some wire was up my alley... and the tank had to come off anyway to seal the petcocks, the garage is smelling like gas again  DD82CBCC-01CE-439B-A2F9-D0DD8C...

Re: Want to Race my 94 at Bushey Ranch... Gonna need some help

Sorry for the belated report. I did make it out to the AHRMA Bushy Ranch VMX in Canby, CA on Oct 1st. Before I get to far into it I have to say that I don’t think they could have found a better place for the event. Sure it’s a bit of a trek but it was more than worth it and the fam and I got to see ...

Re: Where can you mount a RT reg on an M94

Well for some reason I was focused on mounting it by all the electric-ery components, i.e. under the seat or around the battery box, and never thought about putting it up by the steering head. Truth be told I haven’t had a need to pull the tank in months and kind forgot what it looks like under ther...

Where can you mount a RT reg on an M94

Evening all, I’m looking for a bit of inspiration on where abouts to mount my RT reg on my M94 Wombat. I looked at the valley under the seat but there didn’t seem to be a good spot so I figured I’d ask since I’ve read of some of you doing the mod too. Any and all help is appreciated. Re: Want to Race my 94 at Bushey Ranch... Gonna need some help

Well folks Bushey Ranch is next weekend, I'm signed up to race in Classic 125 and today is prep day.

My question should I remove the batt and unplug the square connector? I don't want to race with the key in the IG. Will it hurt anything if I do either?

Thanks,

Bev

Re: Want to Race my 94 at Bushey Ranch... Gonna need some help

Thanks Gents! I guess I won't be in for as much prep work as I thought. Ed, I do like the sound of your water bottle trick, especially with the heat we've been having in NorCal. Thanks for the permission to use it, I'd hate to think what other competitors would do to me if they saw me stealing your ...
