Interruptions in Hodaka Progress.

Similar to the famous Red Green guy, women might not find us guys handsome but handy. Motorcyclists can fix almost anything. Why Eweleen has no complaints about my hobby. Interruption of progress at Good’s Cycle Shop, really just the garage. Non-Hodaka dishwasher water inlet valve being analyzed and...

Re: Cure for FSS

Flat spots only last to the next project or repair. Probably no cure. Seems it takes longer to clear and put-up than fill-up. Just straightened it out, covered again. Can happen on the floor when your hands are full. Getting late in life to change an old dog's thinking and habits. Inventing and fixi...

Re: Silver Streak Project.

Just don't know where this project is going. 94 Wombat or used to be. Relatively quiet pipe. Different. Combat Wombat upper end, could be MXed. Should go to a show once, after all the effort to make it slick. Should be a blast on trails but trails seem to have disappeared in Kansas. Almost ready to ...

Basket Case Confusion x 5

Five plus Hodaka motorcycle barn find. Two models present, appears to be two species that are Ace 100B+ and three model 94 Wombats. Some in boxes. Don't get too excited, nothing pristine here. Major effort and small fortune will be required to make three motorcycles. Almost there. Total disassembly ...

Re: Silver Streak Project.

Looks cool with ready to race plates but this is a Silver Streak model. Metal is the word at least for show. All options open, depends where you're going this weekend. Some of both perhaps.

Re: Silver Streak Project.

Near finished but a couple of options like this competition version with the Combat Wombat top end. Remember that this is a 94 Wombat that started a street legal life. I also have a reeded cylinder available should it need to go faster. Looks fun! Couple of additional ideas for taking it to the show.

Time for a Bore.

Wow. A picture before assembly. Cool mechanical things that disappear, hopefully forever in my case. Nice job and presentation by Wiseco I must say. These go to .050, still a bore left! Nice rebored cylinder from Hodaka Dave and parts from Hodaka-Parts.com. All one package. All for #3 Ace 100B+ proj...

Re: Evolution of the Hodaka Ace 100B+

Winter. Restless time but things to do. The Super Brat project is something I walk by several times a day. #1 project and this Ace 100B+ has a theme of cool and functional. Hodaka statement of dual purpose and made to be modified, Last week it just didn’t look aggressive enough on my walk by. Now it...

Re: Evolution of the Hodaka Ace 100B+

Correct for this one Clarence, ha ha. One piece alloy 50T from Terry. 15T front. 50T, same size as the stock overlay sprocket, 36T standard. Should be about right for the nine mile off/on road ride to town and I do have a 16T, 14T, 13T in my pocket, in case. 8-)

Re: Evolution of the Hodaka Ace 100B+

One should service the clutch more frequent than every half century and I did for this project. Updated kit from Hodaka-Parts.com. Much better even though the old clutches served us well. Metal rather than fiber drive which always worried me. Major change are the holes in the drive disc which allow ...

Working on a similar project and really like your jig idea. Put it in the Resonator? Contributed for this issue of the Resonator but could be an article. Did another jig quite awhile back but similar for a cone replacement. Primitive and temporary but a quick way to keep things in position. Not roc...

Ratty Rat Pipe

Now that I’m back, I’ve been trying to pull off a post a day here until I run out of material. Not desperate yet. Ratty Rat Pipe. Came with a deal. Rough but maybe. I see a small hole in the header pipe I should try to repair. Nope, it just gets worse. No way. No stinger but I did have one sawed off...

Re: Evolution of the Hodaka Ace 100B+

Maybe how it should have been on the Ace 100 B+ or at least my version. Thinking more off-road oriented. Always that conflict with chain guard and swing arm when trying on a real 3.50 x 18 knobby tire. Hmm, the model 94 Wombat has this figured out. Longer and wider but the same distance apart on the...

Re: Evolution of the Hodaka Ace 100B+

Maxie, looks a lot like the 'Reed Carefully' procedure. Has that neat how to booklet been reprinted? Misplaced that and my template. In this case I had to determine the spacing of the piston holes by measuring the new finger ports. I did draw a new map. More radical example from the past shown. Rig...

Crash cart Matt. You don't have to go to the big tool box as often but rarely works out. Usually has that extra 10mm socket and end wrench but not when you need it.

Re: Torque that cllutch nut 1 ! !

Yikes! What a disaster! Never had that happen. The nut does require big measured LH torque and should have a bend-over locking washer. I blame things like that on DPOs but things do happen as I can attest. Egad! Maxie
