login problelms

My twelve year old computer is getting ready to die, so I bought a new one. The computer store transferred the data from the old one to the new one. The new computer won't allow me to log in to your site. It won't accept my password. I'm sending this post on my old computer but I don't know how much...

I agree with Dale. I've been running the resistor plugs in Ace 125R, my Super Rat, and my CW for more than a year and tell no difference.

Re: I'm Disappointed in the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum

I didn't see any Yamaguchis or Cottons (that doesn't mean there were not there) There are so many beautifully restored bikes it's sensory overload. Motorcycles that I have only seen in pictures, in many cases, there were more than one. I think my favorite bike in the collections was a Bultaco 125 TS...

Re: I'm Disappointed in the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum

It seems that everyone missed the point of my post. The Japanese big four is represented by more than fifty bikes. The marquis that invented the dirt bike is represented by one crummy bike that doesn't even have a chrome tank. I feel Hodaka deserves its own stand alone display with at least three ch...

I'm Disappointed in the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum

Every motorcycle marquis you could imagine was represented - EXCEPT Hodaka. There was only one Hodaka on display, and it wasn't representative of the brand. It had a yellow plastic tank and fenders and looked like it just came out of a barn. If I hadn't seen the CW air cleaner, I would have walked r...

In the 1970's the cable was lubed with a very thin coat of #2MP grease. Today; I don't know.

Re: I took a fifty mile ride on the Ace 125 R

Thanks guys for the kind words. I'm very happy with it. An odd thing. The wheels are 94 Wombat. It was a nice upgrade with cushion hub and better brakes. When I cleaned the wheels I inspected the wheel bearings. They were nice and smooth so I didn't replace them. With the lockdown I ran out of thing...

I took a fifty mile ride on the Ace 125 R

I have the gearing problems solved.I can cruse at 55-60 MPH. We are having spring like weather in Lodi so I went for a ride.

Re: Model 92 speedometer maintenance?

According to the manual, the speedo unit requires no lubrication, but the cable and drive unit do. Disassemble the drive unit, clean and pack with grease - much like a wheel bearing. Pull the cable from the housing from the bottom end. Apply a very thin layer of grease to the bottom 2/3 of the cable...

You Know You're Having A Bad Day When . . .

I was replacing the rear wheel bearings on my Ace 100. The rear wheel was off and the bike was sitting on a milk crate. I wasn't paying attention and accidentally bumped it. The bike fell off the crate, landing on the left side, breaking the clutch lever. I attempted to put the Ace back on the crate...

Fork oil queston - 32mm Cerianis

My Super Rat has early Penton 32mm Ceriani forks. I am changing the oil but have lost my notes. How much oil do I add to each leg? I did a search on the Penton Group and the answers were all over the place. Some say 135 cc, some say 200 cc, some say springs out, forks collapsed ,6" from top. He...

Re: My Ace 125 R

After much thought I decided to replace the 50T rear sprocket with a 54T. I got a new sprocket from Terry. I'm happy to say that I guessed right. The new gearing is 14T primary, 54T rear with a 3.50-18 tire. I can now cruse at 55 mph. I haven't done a WOT but I think it would be in the 65 mph area. ...

I'm sure a pencil would work as well as a piece of chalk and I know that graphite is a lubricant.

I use chalk. Pull the dipstick, wipe it, chalk one side, check the oil.

You have mentioned making or modifying a Kickstand. That would be a good practice project, heavy material, no worries about burning holes in it. You can concentrate on laying down some nice welds.

Re: Welding class...

Hi Victor Welding thin stuff is difficult , even for the pros. I am assuming you are running flux-core wire like most hobby guys. If you are running solid wire with a shielding gas (MIG) It's easier , but not much. I'm a hobby guy like you but I have a real welder. I'm a believer in "buy the be...

Re: Introduction, and first timer rebuild questions

That is a very cool Wombat - not your typical barn find. From the mods, I can see the previous owner was a serious dirt rider. The bike appears to be set up for enduro type racing - air forks, wired spokes, enclosed chain guard. The modified head could have run a compression release or a second spar...

Re: Key Position/Brake Switch Question

On the Ace 100 B+ there is no voltage regulator. The battery acted as the voltage regulator and powers the brake light and horn. Without a battery you won't have a brake light or horn and the other lights won't last long. I am also running a 94 Wombat in my Ace 100 B+. The electrical connections wer...

Re: My Ace 125 R

The overlay sprocket I have is 50T. We are running the same gearing - 14T primary and 50T rear, but I'm geared to high. I see you are running a similar pipe. It must be the porting you had done. If I want to wring it out, I can do 60 mph in fourth gear, but when I shift into fifth, it won't hold it....

Re: My Ace 125 R

I geared it down but not enough. It was geared at 14T primary and 46T rear. I don't have a 13T primary but I do have a 50T rear. I bolted it on and went for a ride. It's much better but not enough. I can cruse at 55 but just barely. According to my Tiny-Tach I'm turning 3400rpm @ 55mph. I think I ne...
