I agree with Dale. I've been running the resistor plugs in Ace 125R, my Super Rat, and my CW for more than a year and tell no difference.

After much thought I decided to replace the 50T rear sprocket with a 54T. I got a new sprocket from Terry. I'm happy to say that I guessed right. I use chalk. Pull the dipstick, wipe it, chalk one side, check the oil.

You have mentioned making or modifying a Kickstand. That would be a good practice project, heavy material, no worries about burning holes in it. You can concentrate on laying down some nice welds.
