Re: Front brake setup....
"Bullfrog" also called Captain Eddy has written on best way to set up front brakes/ front axle on assembly on set up. I'd ask him for the link. I sure can't find it. It may or may not help your situation, but I used his instructions & it seemed to help me. Get the brakes working first,...

Won't shift from 5th to 4th
I encountered the same problem. I found that IF the Foot Change Shaft Washer(s), part 33 on the exploded view linked here http://hodaka-parts.com/94_A.asp, was not thick enough or there weren't enough of them the shift shaft moved in and out too much. That allowed the Ratchet to slop back & fort...

Wildzebra: Based on the size and condition of your piston & cylinder, I'd call this "ring helper" optional. When I installed a new piston & ring set in my Suzuki A100 I became frustrated with this thin corrugated piece & pitched it. The Suzuki runs okay. My advice: "fragge...

Re: 50mm rings
Original poster's question... Where to buy rings? I found this recent post. Copied it and pasted it. I think the eBay link looks right, but not certain. Partly because I don't know what size piston you have. If you have standard size piston, meaning not oversize, probably yes.... This is it. If you ...

Re: 50mm rings
This from an old post. Hope it helps. I just don`t want to step on Terry`s toes! But seeing as how all he has are +.030 Model 92 rings I will. I had to make sure these rings fit first and they do. Perfectly! I was missing Ring #2 for my +.020 Model 92 Piston. Ordered one. PERFECT FIT! These rings ar...

This is an outstanding idea.

Re: Need Suggestions on Carb Issue
Other than verifying the condition of the needle jet and jet needle for wear.... I know it's a guess.... I'd go hotter on the plug WAY before dropping main jet OR pilot jet sizes. You can easily buy plugs in a couple steps higher heat range. There's not an ocean of difference between them. Just like...

Re: Hodaka snap ring tool
Thanks all for your help. I better clarify my previous post. I'd like to fully test my home made snap ring tool. I'd like to do that by using it over and over. That means I need to: Figure out how to get the ring back off without loosing it ( lots a luck) a bunch of times. Or Get a handful of rings ...

Re: Hodaka snap ring tool
I've made a snap ring install tool & tested it ONCE. I'd appreciate suggestions on how to get the snap rings off. Suggestions that might allow me to keep the ring. So it doesn't go into orbit. I only have a couple of these snap rings. Getting one on one time isn't much of a test. Or if someone k...

Bernzomatic has some aluminum brazing rods for $5 here in the US. 750 degrees F is their claim for brazing temp. A mapp gas torch might do that. If you have one of those mapp gas torches you'll be out the 5 if it doesn't work. If you don't have one it's a nice excuse to get one for the tool box. The...

Re: Hodaka snap ring tool
I sold my 7x16 mini lathe weeks ago for $100. I'd intended to use that to build the tool. That machine was the ultimate disappointment. Spent hours trying to make that thing produce. I got to the point I just wanted it out of my shop. Just got a new 10x22 lathe late last week. I got that boat anchor...

Re: 175 engine options
I believe Victor's suggestion is best. A couple years ago Strictly Hodaka acquired a group of NOS Hodaka 175 engines from Spain. Hodaka Parts Missouri aquired all of Strictly Hodakas inventory. Before Hodaka Parts aquired Strictly Hodaka's inventory Hodaka Parts originated by buying out out E&K ...

Re: Gas Tank Cleaning Question???
25 percent solution of Muratic acid is pretty agressive.
I'd be chicken to go that high.
Your tank got warm because the hydrochloric was reacting with the iron oxide & probably the steel itself.
I trust you gave that tank a "real good" rinse.

Re: Gas Tank Cleaning Question???
If this is rust you're looking at then detergents and solvents won't bring the job home for you. If your tank's not leaking a DILUTE Muratic acid soak will do. I've used it. My key qualifier is DILUTE. Muratic is dilute hydrochloric acid, but too strong full strength. Available at hardware stores. H...

Re: 22 mm Mikuni float height
Ive used the "stock" Mikuni 22 jetted just as the member indicates he has. I thought it was a good carb. I suspect the problems reported are not carb problems. My guess follows Joe's. I'd have a hard look at ignition using the Hodaka Workshop Manual as a reference. Since you've had 2 carbs...

Thanks Dan. Could you provide approximate diameter and depth of the "counter bore' in the end of the Tube part? I'm gonna assume the recess in the end of the pin is something like 90 degrees included. And just one more thing...... Approximate diameter of the starting taper. Your post is a big h...

Oops. I forgot about the later models. I'm an Ace guy. Not the newer versions.
No rush, I'm on a long term project. This tool is a puzzle to me. I'll need one and I'd like to build one.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Would a kindly chat group member post some close up photos of the "pin" and the "business end" of that black ball handled device? I'm gonna need to do some of these little C shaped clips. I've got a mini lathe and some stock. I can cobble one together. Dimensions of the "pin...

Re: OEM Spec Tire List by Model?
I'm nor sure anyone has a list like that, but if they did it'd be helpful if it had the 'newer' mertic size equivalents.
On another related question: anyone have suggestions for Street tires for an ACE 100 B?
I only ride in the city & I'd like a little better performance on pavement.
Thanks
