Kickstand woes!
New question! My Model 03 kickstand seems to go too far forward, even though it's hitting the stop. The reason I say is because the kickstand bottom sits unevenly on the floor when in use & the bike leans WAY OVER to the left. In fact, it goes so far forward it just about makes contact with the ...

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
Yes, I think so! Boy I hate being stupid! I went back and read thru my manual again and it said exactly the same thing! I was just reading thru it too fast, a bad habit I've never been able to correct! If I would just slow down and take my time and read more carefully/accurately, I wouldn't get myse...

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
OK Ed. So where is this "Official" manual? Is there an online resource to view it? Or is it something I purchase from Strictly Hodaka? Would like to know, would like to see how much different it is. ; ) Victor

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
OK. Went out and got my second set of cases & another kick shaft. I saw on the second shaft where the clip is mounted over the narrow end of the retainer. also noticed a space, which looks basically like two ridges, at the back end of the right case. This space is just a little bit wider than th...

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
Ed. We obviously have different manuals! Mine is from Bill Cook at hodaka-parts.com. Which one are you using? Is there an online one? Mine doesn't show much. Just someone holding the kick shart assembly as its being inserted back I to the case. All it says is insert the first three gears on the coun...

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
OK, I think I'm beginning to understand the situation now. To this point, I have only been putting the clip on the end of the shaft and sliding it up to the bearing retainer. Now I am understanding that it needs to go OVER the narrow end of the bearing retainer. But if this is true, then it must be ...

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
Ok. It's a FrankenBike! The engine itself is a model 94 bottom end with a model 95 top end. That's the way I got it! When I say "Bearings falling over" it's for lack of a better way of expressing it. I said "it FEELS like it" as in the resistance leaves the kick arm. I can't say ...

Re: New to Hodaka - Looking for Guidance
Hi and welcome! There are two manuals you should get, I believe. For the 1972 you should get the manual for a the Model 94/94A Wombat. They are very similar with minor differences in things like exhaust pipes and such. You can look at the serial number on the right front engine case by the clutch le...

OK. Here's the deal. Put her all back together again! For the second time, I gave her one kick & the kick shaft loses ALL resistance! I'm really getting tired of this failing! Everyone suggested that it was the kick shaft bearing retainer failing. However, upon disassembly, there was no damage t...

Re: Control Rod not moving
Mark. I have a Frankenbike! LOL! It consists of a 1976 Model 03 frame/rolling chassis, with a Model 94 bottom end and a model 95 top end. I can confirm the bottom end by the serial number on the casing. the top end I confirm by the exhaust port and gasket required. I just got new seals and bushings ...

Re: Leak from left side of engine 94a
Mine did the same thing. Had to replace the O ring seal on the inner surface of the countershaft. Mine would only leak when full and leaning on the kickstand. Once it lost about 6-8 ounces it would stop leaking because the oil level wasn't high enough for it too leak out around the control rod. Don'...

Re: Since I'm sitting here waiting on parts....
RayRay. I have a whole slew of carb jets, needles, slides, caps, etc. if you need any carb parts I have a "ShiteLoad",and will never use them all. Some used, some new, multiple sizes. And about 20 or so bowl gaskets I'll never use either! Let me know if you need carb parts! I got a double ...

Re: Control Rod not moving
So Ed, are you saying that if I put it back together (in which case I can't rotate the gears) that when I start it up I shouldn't have any issues? That's fine if il this is a correct statement. Maybe just depressing the kick shaft will move things enough? I just don't want to keep screwing things up...

Control Rod not moving
OK. I put the newly rebuilt control rod/counter shaft assembly back in the transmission. But, every time I close up the cases, the control rod won't move in and out. I've tried it with the control rod pushed all the way in, (5th gear I believe) & with it pulled all the way out (1st gear?). It mo...

Question About Countershaft Gears
Hi all! Have a question. I am rebuilding a bottom end on a Model 94 motor. Have the transmission disassembled. The one thing I did not take notice of was the way the gears go back on the countershaft. One side of each gear is smooth & flat, while the other side has an elevated portion nearest th...

Re: What happened to my kick starter?
Where do I find these Elves??? I assume this means I have to split the cases? I was hoping there might have been a simpler answer! I have a model 94 motor. I'm guessing it has the older weaker part you speak of. Just my luck too! I've been working on this bike since early May and finally had h...

What happened to my kick starter?
OK great news! I got the motor running and solved the shifting problems. However something seems to have gone wrong with the kick starter. Now when I kick down on it I does not turn the motor over and feels like a ratchet when pressing down. It moves way to easy. Did I break something? Did something...

Hodaka Wiring
Hello and HELP! I have a 1976 Wombat 125. It's a Model 03 frame but a Model 94 motor. I've been working steadily on this bike for the past 3 months, and little by little have been making it a nice bike again. It came with no lights except an aftermarket tail light which was not connected. So I have ...
