Re: Project Dirt Squirt
There are 2 methods that I know of. A & B. I put it into 2 separate posts. Shifter Mechanism Adjustment (Hodaka) A: Trial and error method Place a stand or block under the motorcycle so it is held upright with the rear wheel clear of the ground. Shift transmission to low gear. Remove the two Phi...

One of these $5.00 items can be a big help. I carry one with me to determine if I have spark.

June ride in Ohio
Now that the West Coast event is over we can talk about the east Coast. I understand that it conflicts with the Unadilla, NY event, but the next “East Coast Junk Yard Association” riding event is the first weekend in June 2017. Many of us are unable to attend Hodaka Days every year, so the best we c...

Re: More Road Toad kick start questions .....
Yes, I should have warned about the clutch pin that needs a bit of grease to hold it in place while re-installing the cover.
Easy to lose in the fray of assembly/disassembly. Big problem if it is lost inside.

Re: More Road Toad kick start questions .....
From what I am gathering here, he is starting out too far CCW to get a good amount of kick travel engagement. Someone might have installed the kicker with the clutch cover on, making it out of position. Re-positioning further to the right will give him the increased travel. Does that make sense? :?:

Re: More Road Toad kick start questions .....
Mike,
I just looked at the 2 RT parts schematic. Item # 67 is the rubber stop that prevents the kicker from rotating CW. My procedure is valid.
See schematic;

Re: More Road Toad kick start questions .....
Mike,
I am not sure exactly on Road Toads, but on other small bore Hodakas, the clutch cover is what prevents the kicker fro rotating further CW.
With the cover removed, one can then reload the spring at a longer rotation after re-installing it at a 2 o'clock position.

Re: More Road Toad kick start questions .....
A- Mike, If the set up is about the same as other Hodakas, I think the best advice would be to do as I have done in the past. Lay the bike on its shifter side. Rotate the kicker counterCW and hold it with a screwdriver or Tywrap. Remove the clutch cover, being careful with the gasket. (it can be re-...

Jack, Fair enough on not buying your paint from Paul. I completely agree with everything you said about paint application. I too have been out of the painting business for many years, but for 10 years I painted cars, machinery and electrical panels. All with epoxy, urethane and enamel paints. Techni...

Ahhh, guys, you are on the Strictly Hodaka website forum. Why are you not looking to Paul for your paint needs?
Does it have to be a rattle can? They make aerosol can adapters for paint if you don't have a spray gun or compressor.

Re: First Day of Spring!
Your breaking my heart. 35 degrees with a wind chill of 25. My Hodaka projects are on hold for at least a week or 2. I did buy a couple of license plate frames for 2 of my vehicles. The old white ones were faded. I used the same font that I used for my trials bike logos. Batman font. license plate f...

Re: Hodaka Days 2006
I found this old posting I made several years ago on the Yahoo Hodaka Owner Group. Must have been about 10 years ago. AAAH, youth, I almost remember it well. In 1973/74, we had very little snow those winters. We would trail ride all year round as long as it didn't rain. Rain made it hard to see. We ...

Hodaka Days 2006
There was nothing on the tube worth watching tonight, so I starting looking through my collection of old DVDs. When low and behold I found a CD sent to my by Stu Osborn of 158 photos from Hodaka Days 2006 at Mid-Ohio. Lots of great shots of the museum, the trials and Hodaka only MX race. Familiar fa...

Re: Ace B+ vs Road Toad
When it comes to Ace bikes, that is what I learned to woods ride on. When it came time to get something faster, I reeded the Ace B+ in 1974. Fast forward 30 years. My Ace is now a trials bike. So I was out a woods bike. That's when I decided to make my own Hodaka that would meet my objectives. An Ac...

Re: 1977 HODAKA 250SL 70A TLC
Damian, I recently bought a 1978 250 SL 70A. I bought an owners manual/parts list for it on eBay. I think SH (here) might have them too. I don't think there is a shop manual available for it. Mine has the oil injection that works. I plan to keep it street legal. SH has parts. Some new, some used. It...

Well I cannot install it now seeing I gave Mike part of the kit. But he is right. My motor bolts were loose. Bad PM on my part. Shame on me. I was an aircraft mechanic in the army.
