Re: Exhaust pipe question

The 73 Wombat and Road Toad pipes are entirely different animals. ;) The Wombat pipe screws on to the cylinder whereas the Toad pipe is a slip fit held in place with springs. I'm pretty sure that the Road Toad pipe is exclusive to the Road Toad.

Gopher Dunes on a Super Toad

I raced my Super Toad in a vintage MX for the first time (first time for the bike, not for me) entering the Gopher Dunes heritage class (1975-1980). The heritage class had 22 entries which makes it the biggest gate so far in the our Vintage series up here in Southern Ontario. Here are a few pictures...

Re: Model ID help- Super Rat, Ace100?

Rob, the extra wiring from the magneto can be left unconnected. The bike will run fine without it. Just tie it off to the frame somewhere. You may want to wrap the connector in tape or something to keep the muck out of it, that way it will be usable in the future should you decide to add lights. In ...

Worn needle jet

I was having some issues getting my 96 Dirt Squirt to run properly. It would start and idle but ran really rich at mid range and would foul the plug. I had aleady cleaned the carb and everything was in order, or so I thought. Anyway the rich mixture and fouled plug indicated that there was still a c...

Re: Model ID help- Super Rat, Ace100?

According to the model charts, frames starting with the letter A are Ace 100 models. A-50794 slots in as a model 92. The Ace 100 did not come equipped with a kill switch, instead the ignition key was used to kill the engine. If you want to wire up a kill switch (and you really should!), connect it a...

Re: California Desert Race video, circa 1967

Thanks for posting the link Ed. I used to own a Triumph 650 and I can't fathom racing it in the desert. They were unreliable enough on asphalt, much less dirt. When you consider that they weighed 350 pounds they would wear a rider down pretty quick.

Welcome to the forum. Paul has carb parts right here:

How did your Hodaka get to England? Were there dealers in England or was it brought in from North America?

Re: Oil pump restrictor

After re-reading my original post I realize I wasn't very clear. The restriction is inside the oil line. I thought it might be some sort of a flow restrictor. I managed to fish it out by squeezing the oil line and using needle nose pliers. It was a nail about 1/2" long that had had the pointed ...

Oil pump restrictor

I am currently working on a 99 Road toad restoration. Upon dissasembling the oil injection system I noticed something blocking the feed oil line to the intake manifold. It is about an inch from the manifold connection. I am suspecting that this is a flow restrictor. Is this correct?

Re: Radial head

There is a vintage CR125 cylinder head comparison here: http://www.vintagefactory.com/Vintage%20Tests.htm Scroll down to find it. It isn't really conclusive but it gives some insight into what factors to take into consideration when shopping for an aftermarket head. They did rate the Webco head favo...

Looks correct to me. There is always plenty of clearance at the ends of the pin.

Re: Super Toad - It's easy being green!

I think I am going to start saving my pennies for a PVL system, but that MZB system looks like it would be the hot setup for my road legal Toad. Will the MZB put out enough power to run the electrics on a stock Toad?

What were you using for an ignition in your Toad engine Bob? I still have the stock points and I would like to upgrade.

Re: Super Toad - It's easy being green!

The pipe is a Harry Taylor HT3 pipe from Strictly Hodaka. The silencer is a DG item that I picked up at a swap meet. The silencer was shortened and a mounting bracket was welded to it.

Super Toad - It's easy being green!

I had my Super Toad out for it's second race this past weekend and I can't help but brag about it a wee bit. This little bike is just a blast to ride! I raced two hare scrambles and although the ignition failed during the first race (my fault, the points gap closed up due to a loose screw), I finish...

Re: Super Toad brake failure - graphic content

I suspect what happend was that the brake backing plate struck a rock at the point where it meets the brake stay (the lowest point), breaking the backing plate. The backing plate then rotated with the hub bending the actuating lever and tearing out the brake cam, then finally breaking the brake rod ...

Super Toad brake failure - graphic content

Since Strictly Hodaka is in the midst of a forum change, I have posted this on both forums. Last weekend I finally got my Super Toad project to the point where I can race it. It still needs some work, but it's now a racer so I entered it in the Ormstown Vintage Festival hare scramble. The little Toa...
