Re: Interesting Barn Find Engine

The shifter cover is 1 down/4 up. Not an Ace motor. Toaster tank DS?

Re: KYB shocks

If you ride at a level where a wider range of load and damping adjustability of your suspension is a concern, WPs are expensive but great. You can spend a zillion dollars on period works shocks and have the best ride as of 1972. You can always spend more money for modern works-level shocks if you li...

Re: KYB shocks

Progressive shocks are great and reasonably priced. I have them on all my race bikes and they have worked flawlessly for years.

I'll snap a few shots of each bike. Give me day. I'm a bit jammed up right now but will get some shots posted tomorrow.

Re: Shock mount question

Nothing like Jody Weisel's works bike, but if you can stand the number plates protruding a little, I can take a couple pictures of the brackets my number plates are mounted with.

Re: a oil injection question

Excellent plan Victor. There is another technique for confirmation of function I used on my TM-125 before I converted it to premix only. Pull the ultimate oil delivery line, introduce an air bubble, reattaching the line and fire the bike and blip the throttle a bit. Progression of the bubble toward ...

Cool Albert. By the way, I sure hope we can hit some of those awesome Minnesota fire roads some day soon.

Re: Ace 100 Shifter Control Shaft Springs

PS- Lee Fabray could probably rebuild a Hodaka shift mechanism for perfect function with a Tinker Toy set (and not the deluxe one either) and some wheat paste. I'll stick with the tried and true. And, again, sorry about any misunderstanding (and thank you for the kind support fellas).

Correct Dale. I didn't think my intention was that mysterious, but I'll be more careful next time.

Haha! True. Its driving me crazy. Yes, the limited amount of time operating the motor at idle speed and not under load is allowable.

Re: Ace 100 Shifter Control Shaft Springs

Oof! That's not a corner I'd cut. The operation is very nicely described in both of the official Hodaka Workshop Manuals and many tips and proper techniques are described in exquisite detail on this Forum. Many people have, and will (myself included) loan the exact tool for the job to anyone on this...

Re: Epic bummer and suggestion

Thanks Captain and Albert. I can still tiddle around on a DS until surgery and the northern Minnesota fire roads are still awesome, so that will have to do for now.

Re: a oil injection question

Running a tank of premix while confirming oil pump function only serves to keep you from burning up your motor during the test process should the pump turn out to be defective. The test process only takes a few minutes of high idle-speed operating to see movement in the oil line. Make sure to block ...

Re: Epic bummer and suggestion

Thanks fellas. I'm told the removal procedure is only a patch to the going in part and am promised I can start weight bearing in 48 hrs and can begin training again at the six week mark. I can live with that! I'm there in spirit for 2022.

Epic bummer and suggestion

Well, after my big plans to crash 2022 Hodaka Days, I've learned all the hardware used to cobble together my shattered fibula after a crash is all infected and has to come out. That's it for riding for six weeks. I'm so mad about it I can spit nails. I'm coming next year if I have to amputate the th...

Re: The ACE 125 R is evolving

Yes, for the cafe full monte overkill, you'd have to chop the frame and reset the rake then the bike would become something else. My comment was tongue-in-cheek. :) I had a bud with an RD cafe'd out with clip-ons and the whole schmeer. Hated them.

Re: CW Spark Issue

From running (fine, I presume?) to no spark had a clear cause - broken connection. You replaced the connectors and got spark - albeit weak. This condition must have developed while the bike was sitting. I'd say its time for a very thorough examination of the wires involved and repair work before dig...

Re: Front or Back, I Asked.

What type filtration medium would be appropriate? I'm guessing a motor such as this would be prepped for paved track running only. This is interesting. Leave it to Maxie.
