Re: Hodakaguy's 98 Super Rat project.

What an excellent and wonderfully well documented project. You've inspired me to dig into the two DS basket cases sleeping in my trailer! Nice work. Thank you for taking the time to share your process.

Re: Opinions on fuel tank coating?

I made a bad assumption. I would only use the Caswell in the setting of a leak. If its just rust that is the problem/concern, I fill the tank with Evaporust for a few days. Empty. Rinse well with water. Blow it out with an air gun. And coat imediately with premix. It will flash rust quickly after th...

Re: Opinions on fuel tank coating?

I've had consistently good results with Caswell 2-part epoxy tank liner. Be absolutely detail-oriented and precise with all instructions.

Re: combat wombat barn find

Fantastic! I also have a CW with piston port induction. It is a fantastic MX bike. Easy to keep on the pipe. You might want to consider rear suspension upgrade depending on how hard you will work it. Its a whole new bike with a set of Progressives. Hodaka Dave hooked my PP MXer with a set of rebuilt...

Re: ignition rebuild service?

Inspect each and every wire from point to point including the wiring within the stator. Check every wire throughout the entire wiring harness for continuity and inspect visually. Chances are a wire got pinched somewhere along the harness and is either broken beneath the insulation or the insulation ...

posting photos from iphone

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, but since I've recently been drawn into the black hole that is the iphone, would someone PULL-EEEEEEZE describe for me, step by step, how to publish a photo directly from the i phone to the forum? Thank you!

"HODAKA" cover shifting adjustment

When adjusting the Hodaka shifting mechanism, I favor the trial and error method. Its a little fiddly, but stealing Hodaka Dave's filed down wrench idea was the key. I'd like to learn more about the measurement method. It might be nice to make the adjustments with the case on the bench rather than o...

Run-away motor!

Hello all. For those of you who've never experienced the helplessness of a runaway motor, the best description I can provide is "gut-wrenching". I was taking a Model 94 Wombat out for the annual reawakening after hibernation. Everything was working properly and then at a stop sign it began...

Re: Clutch Renewal Instructional Materials

You didn't mention any effort to adjust the clutch as the pack sits now. How many shims in the stack under the clutch disk? How much free play is there in the clutch lever on the case? The issue could be as simple as a stretched clutch cable or the need to remove a shim from under the clutch disk.

Re: 03 piston problems

Hmmm...I wonder if if the material the float was made out of was effected by oxygenated gasoline. At the time of manufacture, contact with ethanol would have not been anticipated.
