Re: Hodaka Q&A
Tell the wife, she tells me my memory is getting better, because every time I tell a story, I add more and it gets bigger. I know the changes but I measured the differences, looked up the part numbers and used the correct name.-----Clarence

Re: ACE 100 Kickstart shaft clearance
This is very important to me if the kick roller pins are not centered and seated in the kick gear, they would damage the kick shaft and ruin the kick roller retainer. I have machined seventy five thousands off the kick shaft just to center mine. It keeps the hodaka from making the skritch sound, the...

Re: Hodaka Q&A
Center to center on the fork tube for the first ace 90 was 5&7/8 the same for the MK11 hodaka and the ace 100. As I think the 92A, 92B and the 92B+ are 6&1/2 inches center to center and the same for the super combat. The handle bar holder 908727 was 2&1/8 between bolts. The MK11 measured...

Re: Combat Wombat Mystery
My learning curve must be going backwards. What is the amount of cut measured in? Could I transform a 1.5 slide into a 2.5 slide? In the day I only raced a ace90. It ran the best with a 1 and 3/16 inch AMAL monobloc carburetor probably off a 650 triumph. I did well in the IESRA, Inland Empire Sports...

But in the day, when we modified our race bike and the race was tomorrow, you did what you needed to do in that moment in time. I would not recommend it to any one. We were good tuners and to me Harry was among the very best, of the best. ------Clarence

Re: Combat Wombat Mystery
Only two hodaka manuals cover carburetor tuning, that I know of. The ace 90 manual page 99. It shows the fuel flow route for choke and non choke. The pilot jet influence up to 1/8 throttle that combined with the slide cut away, only influenced up to a 1/4 throttle. The needle and needle jet covered ...

Re: Timing Light or Buzz Box?
Point gap by the book is .012" as Dale said or up to .014" Harry at one time suggested the larger. Too small of a point gap can burn or pit the points, as can a bad condenser. Clarence

Re: Timing Light or Buzz Box?
anymore I set the point gap, no timing mark. In my dealer years I had a frosted bulb and small battery the bulb went brighter when the points closed, Then later I went to point gap and eyeballed that. My feeler gauge is about 1/4 inches wide. try different ways and pick the one you like, I have neve...

Apart twice and then the first time. Turns over after the case screws are installed, Does it turn over after the clutch is on? Go slow, check it one step at a time and you will find the answer. I have never glued on the key and I never would, however others may have found, it to be of help to them. ...

My manuals tell me the friction plate thickness (new) is 2.25mm. They are both listed in my manuals for the 175 SL (61) and the 250/SL (70A). Hope this helps. Some times oils can make a difference ------- Clarence
