Re: Hodaka Trials

The things I have done to my Ace 100B+ to make it a trials bike were the following. 1. 62 tooth rear sprocket 2. moved the foot pegs back to make front end lifting easier. Road work cropped.jpg 3. plastic tank and fenders. 4. 1.5 LB increase in flywheel weight. 5. IRC trials tires. 2.50-21 front, 4....

PVL on my CW

Looks like my CW will be much more reliable now that a PVL has been installed on it while at its winter home at the Super Secret Hodaka Research and Meditation Center in Western PA. Had an incident last June when I broke down 9 miles into a 100 mile Reliability Run in Ohio. PVL mount 002.jpg Ricks f...

Re: PVR York swapmeet 2018

There was some interest in selling parts at the booth this year. If you have Hodaka parts to sell, there will be an extra table at the booth for that. I will have membership applications for new and renewals.

Re: parts interchangeability

Brian,

While at Hodaka Days a few years ago, someone showed how to adapt the spark plug hole with a grease fitting. A grease gun will produce a lot of hydraulic pressure. It can force the piston down as long as it is not at top dead center.

Re: Market for seat pans?

I was able to repair my Ace 100 seat using 1/8" x 1" aluminum and metric rivnuts. Drilled and tapped the pan 1/4-20 and used button heat socket heat screws.

Re: lousy customer service

I placed a big order with Terry before Christmas. He got back to me soon after and told me the orders would be coming around Jan 9. The parts came before that. He also refunded me the shipping costs of the second order when he combined them. The parts came with a great list of parts and schematics o...

Re: PVR York swapmeet 2018

I will be running the Hodaka Club booth again this year. I will be there Saturday morning to set up. I could use some help. The club gets 2 free passes. I cannot stay over night because of family commitments. But I will be back Sunday to man the booth and tear down the booth. Again, I could use some...

Re: Happy Birthday Rick Mott!

Thanks Victor. At 71 one doesn't always want to be reminded of one's age, but I am in good shape. Hodakas have kept me young for the last several years. I have 5 running Hodakas and 2 projects. Only one is street legal. My 250 SL. It has been the bike that has been getting the most use lately since ...

Re: Forum Changes Explained!

Thought I would test the forum with a photo of what I have been up to. My garage was a total disaster for many years. No room to work without removing all my bikes. Since retiring I have been spending a lot of time throwing stuff away and reorganizing things. (Hodaka stuff) Here is what it looked li...

The ride on the street is tomorrow. Irma will not be here in the Northeast for another week. Someone needs to look at the weather channel or their calendar.

Blue Bell PA bike show

The Blue Bell Motorcycle Daze bike show was a great success. The rains never came. The sun came out and Bob Litwin’s “immaculate” 1973 Combat Wombat won the Best in Show trophy.

When I installed my reed valve I didn't need to do any mods to the air boot. I was prepared to, not needed. Here is a photo.

I did need to dent the exhaust pipe to put it on after the carb was installed. Perhaps the issue is yours is a spigot mount carb.

Re: Chain maintenance

O-Ring chains are really the way to go. I wouldn't use WD40 as lube. It was never intended to be a lubricate like chain lube. But your results seem to be counter-intuitive to that wisdom. Ha!

Re: Ace 100 project coming along

Victor, The original bracket was already threaded M8 1.25. The one I made I used a rivnut, 5/16-18 because at the time I didn't have metric rivnuts. I do now. See link for the set up I bought from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Astro-Pneumatic-Tool-1442-Setting/dp/B003TODXQW/ref=pd_bxgy_328_img_2?_e...

Ace 100 project coming along

Besides the Dirt Squirt project with my Grandson, I have another Hodaka in the wings. An Ace 100B. It has taken some twists and turns during the last few weeks. But I am confident it will be a nice runner when done. It is not a total restore, just a re-assembly. Only painting if it component really ...

Re: Chain maintenance

Found this excellent video on YouTube on cleaning and lubing your motorcycle chain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFEmWCK208g

I personally only use a wire brush unless the chain is really cruddy.
