Re: Van Tech Motorcycles
Couldn't help but order the Hodaka-Van Tech cycle project article. Now if they would just start making those frames again and I could put Hodaka parts on it and...................well you know just a thought. Richard

Re: frame number without letter designation
If it is a factory painted black frame........and assuming it is a Combat Wombat, it will not have the extra battery box bracket nor the horn bracket near the coil bracket. Richard

Re: 1972 hodaka 125
I have a Combat Wombat motor that was froze up from being kept outside and a year later I finally got the top end off. :o Take the head and intake off. See if you have a broken ring, scoring inside the cylinder or rust. It will give you an idea of what you are up against. I soak the piston with PB B...

Re: Combat Wombat vs Super Combat Forks
Hello Laurie, Yes, you can use the 97/98 dampening rods and springs in the 95 forks. Another modification I have done was following the old Resonator article modifying the 95 forks for more travel and dampening. Remove the rebound spring on the dampening rods, plug the old oil passage and drill thre...

Transmission : 1-1/4 pints or 591cc or .6 liter, Plugs: NGK B-8HS (standard) or NGK B-9HS (cold) The subject what brand or ratio of oil to use is a very popular subject! I have used Golden Spectro and Red Line Oil for the premix at 32:1 to 40:1 ratio. The transmission oil I use is Belray Gear Saver ...

Re: Combat Wombat vs Super Combat Forks
Hello Bill, I have also used the later model 30mm forks (97,98,99,01.02) on my Combat Wombats and work well for me. The advantage of these is better dampening due to the new location of the three oil passages on the inner tube and the longer full length spring. The 97 model spring is 16-1/4" an...

Re: Combat Wombat Paint
In the past I have looked everywhere to see if there was a can of spray paint that matched the color of the CW airbox. The original color has a lot of olive and not much drab! The old paint code that E and K cycles used to list from NAPA is incorrect and is too dark ( I tried it). Tamiya model paint...

Re: Wombat seat
They will bolt up the same but the 03 1976 Wombat seat is the same as the 97,98, and Road Toad seats also. Starting in 1974 with the 97 Super Combat model the back mounting brackets are longer and the bottom side of the seat base was made to clear the rear fender as the fender was mounted a little h...
