Re: I need help identifying
Check the "Hodaka Serial Identification" page at: http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/Articles.asp?ID=251 The writing at the bottom of the Identification page says: "Motor letter " F " was the very early Ace100/MX ( Super Rat 93) motors. These were available in 1970 and the motors...

Re: 50th anniversary tank badges
I have mine and they look great. Quality is as good as the originals. They will cause some questions when I ride my Super Combat at the local practice track.

Re: clutch won't dissengage
How about the clutch pinion bushing #67 on the diagram at: http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/SearchRes ... p?Cat=2049
If that bushing is worn on the end (too short) the clutch will drag even if the plates are released.

Re: Cylinder head
I have two CW heads and they are both marked 952501. I have three model 03 heads and they are marked 9_2501 (just like the Super Combat) although the squish area is shaped different in all three. The exhaust timing is not much different in the CW and the 03 so I would guess that the CW head would wo...

Re: Name this bike
The left crank bearing on the 03 is oiled directly from the injection system, therefore as Kelly (socalhodaka) said it is recommended that an oil hole be drilled from the left transfer port to the bearing (like all the premix models have) and the case has to be separated to do that. I have 2 model 0...

Re: Name this bike
The Combat Wombat was not still being made in 1977 and the left side case appears to be a model 03 Wombat. If it is an 03 the motor number (right front of the engine case) will start with a "Q". The Super Combat (model 97) piston will not work in the 03 as the 03 wrist pin is about 3 mm lo...

Re: Tire choice
In my opinion removing chain guards is the reason shifter cases are so hard to find. I have a couple destroyed ones in my stock and I didn't do it.

Don Daugherty, one of the Hodaka Club's long time members runs a business called All Moto Tire and he has some 3.50-18 and 2.75-21 motocross tires made by Vee Rubber. I have a set but I have not installed them yet so I really can't say how good they are. They look good if that matters and they are r...

Not sure of why it is different but you can get it at O'Reiley, NAPA or any auto store that carries paint.

Re: Interested in Hodaka Super Rat
I don't know where you are located but there is a Kevin Adams near Denver, CO that had several Super Rats for sale. Most of his have powder coated frames and are fairly well restored. Prices are in the $2500 - $3000 range. If you are interested in that location and price range reply back and I will ...

Re: 03 Wombat Fork Repair
Ed or Bob,
I printed the sheet you two did on the 03 (and 175/250) fork repair and I thought it was in a Resonator but I have searched all of them and don't see it. Where was it printed? Danny has done an excellent job here but I just wanted to find the original.

Brian is right. If the washer was not under the snap ring it would eat into the aluminum of the case as it moved back and forth.

Re: Motor casings
A gallon of Mineral Spirits from Home Depot in one of their 5 gallon buckets works really good to cut grease. It is the closest thing you will find to the products used by garages in their washing vats. Get a garage to help you with disposal as it is not biodegradable. Simple Green is a water based ...

YouTube video of how it is done with a broken key extractor. Slide it in on the tumbler side of the key and the tumblers will back out of the way to let it slide in.

Re: Ace 100 clutch arm removal
Yes, the pin is steel so it should not be damaged at all. As long as you let the pin turn slowly counterclockwise as it is coming out you should not damage the aluminum so it should drive right back in and should be snug enough to stay.

Re: control shaft
You slide the snap ring onto the small end of the tapered shaft, then slide the tapered shaft down into the tool and it will push the snap ring off the big end of the tapered shaft spreading it out as it goes. So before you push the snap ring off the end, put it onto the end of the control shaft and...
