Modified Road Toad

Hello everyone, I was bored so I decided to make a little video of my modified Road Toad. Hodaka Ron built this bike for himself a while back. Ron called it the “Load Toad”.I bought it from him a few years ago. All I have really done to this bike was paint it. I know, I know it’s not the correct Roa...

Hodaka Days camping

I got the email about Hodaka Days listing all the services available in the area. It listed camping options but did not mention camping at the school.
Does anyone know if this will be available this year.
Thanks,
Bob

Re: Zinc plating kits…

I bought the Eastwood kit and was not satisfied with the results. I found it to be whiter than I wanted and would rust fairly quickly. Followed the instructions then tried different lengths of time and even different voltages and never really got the results I hoped for. Just my opinion, maybe other...

Re: Super Combat stuck swing arm

Yes Victor the swing arm moves on the frame. The bolt is stuck inside of the swing arm. I have had stuck swing arms before but I’ve always been able to get them apart eventually. This one is winning the battle so far. I have tried lots of penetrating oil, heat, big hammer, sweat and cussing but it w...

Re: Super Combat stuck swing arm

I did try penetrating oil. I will try applying heat next. Drilling seems like it would be the last resort but if that’s what it takes then so be it.

Super Combat stuck swing arm

I have a Super Combat that I trying to remove the swing arm. The bolt is stuck inside the swing arm and will not budge. I have wracked on it with a big hammer to the point of destroying the nut but absolutely no movement.

Help identify this head

So I was digging through my Hodaka parts stash and came across this head. I don’t remember what it is for.

I now see the 4 hole intake in the Other photo.
Is that a reed valve setup? That might explain a different carburetor.

Doesn’t look like a Super Rat top end to me. Didn’t all the Rats have the 4 stud intake?

Re: Back to reed valve jetting on a Super Rat

Victor,
A regular timing light works just fine on a two stroke. Mine requires 12v so I just connect to a jump battery. Buzz box or ohm meter is even easier. I have tested with a light after setting with the buzz box and it has always been spot on.

Thanks for the great offer. I gave it Long hard thought, several seconds, well maybe two. The separation anxiety would be just to much.

Re: 2021 road or trail rides

I managed to get a ride in now that it has warmed up and most or the snow is gone. I live in north central Washington state near the small town of Tonasket about 20 miles from the Canadian border. From my house it is about 15 miles to my nephew’s 1,600 acre ranch. I took the Load Toad up there yeste...

Re: 2021 road or trail rides

I’m bummed about Hodaka Days being cancelled but I completely understand. I really hoped to try my new bike on the Bad Rock. I bought this bike from Ron Liddle this past winter. The only thing I did to it was make it pretty. New paint, (1970 Dodge Linelight Green), got it licensed for the road and r...

Re: SuperRat Fender set...

The paint is a single stage acrylic enamel over a good primer. The color is “fire engine red” from the local automotive paint store. I do my own painting. I have never had a motorcycle powder coated but the chip issue makes sense. I’ve seen some pretty nice rattle can paint jobs but, in my opinion, ...

I used a 94 Wombat rear fender. Cut about 6” off the back, about 1” above the tail light mounts. Drilled new mounting holes. The Wombat mounting holes will end up being the rear number bracket mounts

I use one of these. Made for a chainsaw bar. Works well. The pointed tip will push the zero ball in then pump the grease in.
